Vehicle Detail
I’m parting with my white, automatic, 1991 VW Vanagon Westfalia, full camper with working A/C. I’ve had it for almost 7 years, and it’s taken us to the most beautiful places in the US. Now that I have two little kiddos that keep me extremely busy, this van needs to be with someone who can give it more time and trips. I think it’s in really good shape inside and out. All accessories (screens, SCT custom tuning tool, Bentley VW Westfalia mechanic guide, Bostig installation guide, awning, and random camping equipment) included. There is less than 4,000 miles on the Ford Zetec Engine that is installed, we did a complete engine conversion in March 2010. We used the Bostig 2.0 conversion. You can see the information on the Bostig conversion at www.bostig.com; it’s a very nice power and electrical upgrade from the stock engine and parts are now cheap and easy to find. The chassis has 172,000 miles on it. Rebuilt Transmission Dec. 2011 Four new tires in May 2012 Power windows, side mirrors and door locks (power door locks need to be repaired, actuator will run about $100). Very good repair and upgrade records have been kept for the life of this vehicle. I alone put more than $10,000 worth of upgrades and repairs into this Vanagon. The van is not perfect, it has these non-mechanical issues (see photos): One quarter sized hole (rusted spot) on the driver side by rear wheel one ding in the rear hatch and a tiny ding in the driver's side door A cracked place on the back bumper (backed into a pole) A patched place in the rear of the popup canvas and a mended screen in front A small rip in the passenger side seat underneath the arm rest. The bracket that holds the stove cabinet open is broken ( I used a spatula or stick to hold it open when in use) I took the plastic side pocket on the driver side door off, it has a broken screw hole piece and needs to be mendedThe ear piece that holds the fuse box cover on is broken off, I modified it with a zip tie so it does stay on, Paint wear on the side view mirrors and by the windshield wipers and front bumper And some small wear and tear and sun damage that comes along with having a vehicle this old The mechanical issues: The tachometer is not currently working (it’s an automatic so I don’t see a need but it probably could be fixed with a soldering iron), there is a sensor on the current alternator that is faulty so the battery light stays even though it’s fully charged. And the reverse lights do not work for some unknown reason. In the past couple of years besides all engine, coolant system, fuel system parts being replaced, I have replaced the A/C compressor & had new hoses designed to reroute the system after the engine conversion and all the A/C parts (including receiver & dryer) have been replaced. Also new right rear & passenger side axle, upper ball joints, steering rack boots, replaced fuel grommet on expansion tank and fuel hose through expansion tank, added spacer plates to rear, idle air control valve, new driver's side window motor, 2nd Auxiliary battery installed under driver seat, installed GoWesty external cooler kit for automatic trans-axle. Overall it’s in excellent shape for a 25 year old vehicle and it looks good. It's registered, inspected and ready to go. It doesn’t have the camper tables; they were gone when I bought it. I always wanted to order them aftermarket and then decided after owning the van that they would get in the way. If you buy this van I will buy two camper tables for you from GoWesty. Please email me with any questions and I'm happy to send you my phone number by email too. We are located in Central Austin, TX. Thanks for looking and happy camping!
