Hi I am a 51 year old mechanic & shop owner with years of experience in building cars & I am offering for sale a 66 MGB MK 1.I am the 3rd owner of this car it was origionally from Florida it came to my area in 1987 where the owner blew the engine, it was purchased by the person I bought it from for the transmission once removed he rolled car in back corner of his garage for 24 years hence its great condition {so called barn find} then I bought it from him in 2011 with the thought of restoring it as a surprise gift for my wife. I decided being a 51 year old mechanic & remembering how notorious mg's were for finicky wiring, tuning problems & oil leaks over time to put in a modern gm 2.8L v6 with fuel injection & automatic trans {700r4} because I could never teach my wife to drive a manual. But low & behold she does not like car does not feel safe in it {worried she would die in a rollover ??} so I am selling this little gem.{ I know to some this is sacrilage but if someone desired they could put origional power train back in & you would have a $20,000.00 car} It is the desirable steel dash. origional restored wire wheels origional grill & front bumper new rear bumper,. the engine was rebuilt before installation runs like a top oil pressure cold 45 psi hot 40 psi, because I was restoring this car to keep the front fenders were weak at the bottom so I installed new fenders rather than patching the paint is PPG base coat clear coat the color is 98 Monte carlo SS I would give paint & body work 9 1/2 out of 10 almost show quality, the car comes with the origional mg hard top { no cracks in fiberglass glass in good condition} not the cheaper knock offs, new convertible top with zip out rear window, new carpeting interior & trunk,custom solid oak battery cover, seats came out of a Dodge Neon RT for more comfort{original seats come with car upholstery good shape} car has all new brakes caliper, rotors,pads,wheel cyls,brake shoes,master cyl upgraded to dual line master for safety, new brk lines to accomodate master,coil springs & leaf springs ,new gas tank to accomodate fuel injection new fuel pump which is whisper quite not like the origional mg pumps. new alternator ,starter , throttle body. 5 new tires with approx 300 miles on them I recently did a road trip approx 100 miles on highway car ran great almost 40 mpg engine hardly works to push this 1800 lb car every thing in car works as should lights wipers heater etc. only thing is tach is not hooked up was going to send it away to be recalibrated for 6 cyl's this winter but ran out of time,All wiring is 1988 chev s-10 so if you should ever have a problem with it any mechanic with a wiring diagram & scanner can figure it out data link connector & ecm are on passengers side with a modern fuse box I probably have over 500 hours redoing car + all the parts I have put into it, so I will take a loss on it . as for terms of sale $500.00 deposit required within 48 hours, after auction balance within 10 days can be certified cheque or bank wire transfer , or cash on pickup vehicle will not be released until funds are cleared with my bank .
