Vehicle Detail
"Tina" (short for "Patina") is a low mileage, running and driving former Pacific Bell truck from Oregon with some cool vintage add-ons like a roof mounted spot light and CB antenna, a period after-market interior light on the dash, working factory add-on oil pressure and amp guages (when Studebaker went to "idiot lights" real truckers balked so real guages were made available), clamp-on door rear view mirrors and several auxilliary tail/stop lights. It has a very early 50A alternator (instead of a generator) with an external rectifier and voltage regulator that works. It has the rare side mounted spare. A big wrap-around rear step bumper has been removed but comes with the truck. The lights (except for the add-on back up lights & the spot light) turn signals, horn, all guages and heater fan work. It's a 3/4 ton, 6' bed with a 246 cu. in. flathead six cylinder that runs very well - smooth, cool and quiet. It does NOT smoke or leak oil. It has a 4-speed transmission on the floor, synchro except for the "Granny gear" , updated 8-lug 16" Ford rims with correct lug nuts and good used tires. I have receipts for nearly $1000 from the previous owner for having the brake master cylinder and rear brakes completely re-done three years but very few miles ago and it has a brand new $500 radiator and new hoses. All the side glass is brand new (two vent and two roll down windows) the back glass is perfect and the windshield has only minor laminate clouding in the bottom corners. It has a complete new exhaust system, repaired and resurfaced intake/exhaust manifolds and a fresh engine tune up (points, plugs, condenser, rotor, cap and wires). Before I adjusted the carburetor float it was occcasionally flooding - seems ok now but I picked up a carb kit for it anyway. I haven't really had a chance to drive it enough to know if it will flood again. Parts are readily available thanks to the very large "Studebaker Driver's Club" and it's many major vendors of original "NOS" and reproduction parts. The body is nearly ding and dent free, even the rear fenders which tend to get heavily dented but it has rust in the very bottoms of the doors (not visable with the doors shut either from inside or out), the rocker panels (again only visable from underneath) and the hood. The cab corners have been patched with fiberglass. It has a temporary current California registration but has been road legal in Oregon for the past two years. I just need to get the truck weighed to complete the transfer to California plates. This truck is not quite to the "reliable daily driver" stage but not far from it either. I am a 40 year Studebaker collector and will be happy to answer all your questions to the best of my ability. Buyer is responsible for shipping or transporting the vehicle.
