Vehicle Detail

1986 Subaru Brat for sale with 125k original miles. I purchased this truck from Arizona 6 months ago. This truck has no rust! I had originally planned to restore this brat, and have done alot of work to it. This truck runs great and is currently my daily driver. Included is the yellow camper top. Four wheel drive high and low works great. I have replaced tie rod ends, cv axle driveshafts, rack and pinion steering, ball joints, etc. The rear end had a bit of damage, and I have started to fix the body work. No other damage was done to the truck. The brakes, though working fine, will soon have to worked on a bit. I have posted a youtube video link: http://youtu.be/iKzfXo8D3t0. You can also search youtube for 1986 Subaru Brat for sale on Ebay. On Nov-29-12 at 05:40:47 PST, seller added the following information: I have had many emails asking various questions about the truck. The easiest thing for me is to answer them all here, or as many as I can. Here is everything I can think of to tell, though you are still welcome to email any others..I have owned this truck for about six months. I found it in Arizona and had a transport company ship it to me where I was living for the summer in Maine. I was building a house there and used the truck all summer and into early fall. But when I had initially purchased the truck and before it had arrived, I was able to register it with the title that was sent to me. While at the dmv, I mistook the actual mileage of 123k and stated on my new title application that it had 132k. This explains the discrepancy in the vehicle odometer report. The car now has 125k. I have no doubts that these are the actual miles. Sadly, I only got to drive the truck two thousand miles..As far as the low scale given for the truck, I don't have a clue. How can a computer program rate a vehicle it cant see? But honestly, I'm not sure what that rate scale is.Now for the condition of the truck, starting in the back. As I mentioned, the truck had been hit on that corner, though not severely. It did no damage to the structural integrity of the vehicle, which is important because this truck does not have a frame. The corner seem was broken and dented up a bit, but the rear lights were all there and the bumper mounted up just fine. There is fiberglass on the inside of the repair, as well as under the tailgate on that side. Most of the work to bring it all back I have done already. It just needs a bit more building up. I noticed the driver's drive axle boot in the rear is torn. The opposite one is fine and the two in the front are brand new, so are the drive axles. The exhaust is good. I had a custom tailpipe fitted to bend up and over the hitch at Midas last week. They checked the exhaust over and said no leaks. The trailer hitch was custom made for me by two high school seniors in Portland, Maine this summer. It is clean and strong. The receiver, hitch, and wiring are brand new. The bed has some bed liner which was sprayed on that dark spot you see in the pictures. I wasn't concerned because the truck inevitably will be getting its fresh paint.Roll bar is there but not bolted down. I found I needed to take it on and off depending on what materials I was putting in the back.Nice camper top is included as well. The color doesnt' match. I had plans to paint it as well. Interior is good. No real issues except I found two days ago that there is no heat in the cabin. I checked the input and output for the heater core and everything was heating appropriately. I have not looked into it any more, but my guess is the control on the knob inside. Perhaps a vacuum hose came off? Not sure. The shift linkage is o.k. Not loose or sloppy by any means. Just probably original. 4x4 works great.Original radio and additional cd player in, but speakers are not hooked up. I did have them hooked up so I know they work. The engine has been gone through. I flushed every system with new fluids. All the filters have been changed. I adjusted the valves and reset the timing so she idles pretty sweet. The accelerator pump on the carb is leaking a bit. Not enough to ever concern me, though a carb rebuild would be nice for this truck. The leak only means you have to feather the gas just a bit upon takeoff only. And sometimes not at all. The engine oil has always maintained itself, so this leads me to believe it doesn't leak or burn, or at least not very much. There is never any pooling. The front end is all new, like I said. All the rubber, all the boots, tie rods, ball joints, strut mounts, rack and pinion, drive axles.. The only thing it needs is one small rubber bushing for drivers side sway bar. An ebay purchase sent me the wrong one. Its not a real important thing, but the only thing under there I hadn't done yet. Tires are good. Brakes are good, but are beginning to shake a little. My guess is rotors turned and new pads. No big deal. The truck is in South Carolina where I actually live. I towed the truck down here from its Maine summer stay on a uhaul car hauler. This was my daily driver for over six months. Other than investing into the rebuild of the truck, it hasn't ever needed attention. I think anyone could jump in and drive it home, although I would not prefer you do that, only because my sentiments are to baby this classic truck. I did take the truck camping this summer with my dog up into Canada. It did great. I am sad to see this truck go. I thought I would keep it a long time. But I'm making some life changing decisions and there isn't room for the sentiments..Either way. Feel free to email if you have any further questions. On Nov-30-12 at 05:05:46 PST, seller added the following information: I have included a few new pictures of the back panel to show more of the damaged area. Please excuse the frost on the truck and not so ideal lighting for the pics. I had to take them earlier before I go to work. Also, a couple of you have been asking about the ac. It is a genuine Subaru system installed at the dealer. The woman I bought it from said it worked, but I have never gotten into it. I took the belt off and put it with the other spare belts behind the seat because I never used the compressor. Everything is there. May need a charge or it may not. Also, there was a question concerning the ignition. You will notice the key down along the right knee. Im not sure why alternate ignition was installed. I thought perhaps someone lost their key? I do not have the key to the original ignition. On Dec-01-12 at 13:09:43 PST, seller added the following information: I just posted a picture of the original paperwork including owners manual and window sticker with list price, options, and mpg. There is a stack of service records there too that I have been saving since ownership.
