Car runs fine. Very reliable. I bought a newer Explorer. The good things about the car: uses no oil between changes (I always used synthetic and changed at 7500 miles) tires are in very good shape exhaust is in good shape (all redone not too long ago) body is generally good sound (see photos) interior is generally good The bad things about the car: 267,827 miles (I commute between CT and VT almost weekly so lots of highway miles) car did not pass CT emissions. The emissions report suggests it needs oxygen sensors. It probably needs a tune-up at this point as well I was told it needs ball joints and an emergency brake cable a number of minor annoyances due to age/mileage such as heater fan works only on high, AC is not cold, doors lock only from passenger side console, etc. rear bumper is rusted like they all do Other: Not sure whether engine is OHC or not but I had to check one type - it is definitely a 4 Litre 6 cyl. I get between 15 - 18 mpg. transmission was replaced at about 160,000 with a Jasper completely rebuilt transmission and it is working fine.
