Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1977 Buick Riviera. It is in pretty nice shape for its age. This car belonged to my grandfather and was left to me. The car has been in storage for six years. My grandfather bought the car from a priest who purchased the car new. The car was involved in an accident sometime in 1994 or '95. The car was repaired and partially restored. The title is clear and and is not a salvage title. Now for some information about the car. This car has the optional 403 Olds V8 engine. It has a TH350 automatic. My grandfather added a positraction differential. The axle ratio he installed is 2.41:1. He had a dual exhaust put on with dual catalytic converters. The mufflers are stock but there are no resonators. It sounds nice without being obnoxious. He also put the Buick mag wheels. There is a complete set of these wheels, with a full sized spare on a matching wheel. The car has had many mechanical parts repaired or replaced except the engine. Most if not all the suspension bushings and parts have been replaced over the years. The transmission was rebuilt 14 years ago or so, but it does leak. Like many cars from the 70's, rust is a issue. My grandfather tried hard to have the rust professionally repaired with patch panels and lead work. That is part of the reason why this car looks as good as it does. However, you can see where the rust is starting to bubble up in certain places. The underside of the car is quite clean. The car was seldom driven in winter weather. Part of a weatherstrip is missing from one of the outside door trims. The air conditioning was repaired with a new compressor, but the system likely needs to be recharged. It was always kept an R-12 system. The power antenna needs to be replaced. Some of the switches are sticky from sitting around. The chrome is in decent shape, but it does show some pitting. Inside, the carpeting was replaced, and the upper panel on the door panels were covered with vinyl to cover up the faded and cracked plastic wood. The headliner and sun visors were redone. The headliner is not the nicest job done, but it is not coming down. My grandfather had a leather steering wheel cover installed by a professional auto upholsterer. The hood liner insulation is missing. The jack and trunk carpeting are present and in nice shape. The seats are in decent shape, but show wear. The car has its original owner's manual. This car is in good shape for its age, but bear in mind it is 35 years old. The person purchasing this car is responsible for its pickup. I only accept cash or cashier's check for payment. Please contact me through ebay if you have any questions. As this is an old used car, it is being sold as is. I have made every effort to describe it accurately. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding. On Nov-24-12 at 12:51:17 PST, seller added the following information: 11/24/12: One issue the car has that I forgot to mention is the gas gauge acts strangely. The needle bounces around. My best guess is the sending unit is going bad. The gas tank was replaced 15 years ago or so. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
