The Ferrari 308 is considered among the most recognizable exotic sports cars in the world. Their unparalleled heritage is unsurpassed to this day. The 308 is both powerful and stylish. Its iconic wedge shaped, mid-engine body and erotic exhaust note indisputably qualifies the flamboyant 308 as the sexiest car around; able to turn grown women into giggling debutantes upon sight. Exterior: With factory removable targa roof and “Boxer” style red/black paint, the buttery finish oozes character and displays a patina that is irreplaceable. This fabulous specimen looks to have been kept in a well-ventilated, dry garage and never exposed to any traffic hazards. Sure, you might be able to restore a rusty or damaged car, but you can't bring back originality for all the money in the world. It's priceless! And yes, the paint is still very glossy, irrefutable proof of the sheltered life this 308 has led for over 30 years. A straight body is a hallmark of unmolested originality. Pictures clearly show the clean lines and rust-free rocker panels of this stunning 308. The doors open and close smoothly and feature perfect shut lines. There are no major blems, just a few small chips, scuffs & scratches. Ferrari’s hooves are BF Goodrich Radial TA’s. Speedline alloys replaced the obsolete metric wheels. No need to hunt for costly metric tires. The removable targa roof looks spectacular and fits tight as a drum with no leaks or wind noises. When removed, it stores conveniently behind the seats. This is what a fine Euro-spec 308 tail is supposed to look like: Chromed dual exhaust tips, bright lenses, dry, undamaged sheet metal, even underneath. Surveying the car's straight and smooth coachwork today, we marvel at every minute detail. In fact, with little preparation, this fine example of the marque could be proudly displayed at a local car show or Concours d'Elegance We'll inspect the interior next, shall we? The 308's interior presents very well. From the leather-covered, aluminum steering wheel to the supple, leather bucket seats; everything is in a wonderfully preserved state, without any cracks or dryness. No significant wear, fading or cracking is a sure-fire indication of a low-mileage Ferrari that has always been protected from the elements. Power windows operate but are very slow going up and down. The fascinating array of gauges and switches seem to be gleaned from a period aircraft. The A/C blows ICE COLD and the period correct, AM/FM Cassette audio system (how modern!) guarantees pleasurable 70’s and 80’s music, even when traveling topless at speeds well above the double nickel. The door panels, center console, sun visors and all weather stripping are superbly preserved as well; mute testament to the car's immacuate status. Only a well preserved classic can offer such a delightful original cabin. Alright, let's check out the trunk. Inside the clean, dry front compartment is where the battery and spare tire resides. Behind the engine, the 308 GTS features a zip-able storage area, great for keeping your golf clubs or luggage. Unzip and you'll gain access to the original jacking equipment. A picture says more than a thousand words: this all original trunk is clean! While we’re here, let's take a look at the engine. Engine & Mechanical: Raising the rear-hinged deck-lid exposes the heart of the 308, the fabulous, 3.8 liter V-8 power plant. This is a numbers matching drivetrain and is 100% factory correct, right down to its ancillaries, decals and markings. Engine bay is surgically clean. Ferrari’s V-8 engine runs exactly like you would expect it from a low-mileage, well-maintained specimen. There are no annoying fluid leaks; neither is there any smoke, nor measurable oil consumption. Aside from the worn syncro in second gear, it's a bullet-proof drive train, built with long distance touring in mind, certainly provides more than sufficient agility to prevail on any U.S. highway. This 308 is appears mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically. Speaking of cosmetics, let us stress how straight the body is, how glossy the paint: if you wouldn't know differently, you'd think to be looking at a 3-year old, not a 33-year-old car.
