Vehicle Detail

Here for your consideration is a 1972 CHEVELLE SS 350 CONVERTIBLE. YES, ITS A REAL SS MATCHING NUMBERS CAR! I haven't torn the car apart to find the build sheet. Hoped I would find it when I replaced the gas tank, but nope. I DO however have the original window sticker which is specifically for this car. Sorry, the Protect-o-Plate is long gone. This car was fully restored about 12 years ago. A lot of detail went into the car when it was restored- even to the point of including all of the inspection marks and labels. Car has been driven approx. 30,000 miles since restoration. Still VERY VERY nice condition. Undercarriage nice, but because its driven on occasion, it's not show. It needs a good detailing to bring it back to show condition. See westcoastcars dot net for extensive pics & information. EXTERIOR: Factory Correct Code 75 Cranberry Red (this is the original color of this car) Base Coat/Clear Coat with White D-88 SS Sport Stripes. Mostly Shines like a mirror - but clear coat is starting to lose gloss on rear trunk area. Perfect body. ZERO RUST or dents. Excellent glass and trim. White convertible top is in very good condition. (Has a tiny hole poked in side of top between back window and side window. Its been there since I’ve owned the car. Very hard to notice. Never been worth it me to change the whole top to fix such a minor flaw. Power top motor works Great. Factory SS wheels restored. Correct reproduction Firestone Wide Oval Tires with lots of tread. Trunk is very clean. Floor pan, Trunk pan and quarter panels perfect. NO RUST ISSUES at all! All rubber seals perfect. Has optional trunk light. Spare tire is full size SS rim with new Firestone Wide Oval Tire with factory jack. Paint on inner trunk lid and Door jams and hinges are like new. Very Nice. Car was obviously taken apart and restored correctly. Car has correct exhaust tips (but has never had the correct resonators). Even has the correct factory "power beam" headlights. See westcoastcars dot net for more photos and extensive information. INTERIOR: Near perfect white A-52 Bench seat interior with column shift automatic. New carpeting and seat covers last year. We are presently installing BRAND NEW Door Panels Front and Rear. These are the "Golden Deluxe” Door panels which cost nearly double the cost of the “regulars” and took 4 months to get. All weatherstripping, gaskets, jam seals, and window fuzzies are like new. Original dash in excellent condition. Car has standard SS instrumentation (full gauges were optional). Original SS sport wheel. Odometer reads 92,708.4 which I was told is original mileage - but can't prove it. Since I purchased this car back in 2002, (78,000 miles) I've found many items such as the factory grooved brake rotors, alternator and carburetor to be the original items. Because these items normally wear out before 100,000 miles - I've been slowly convinced to believe the mileage to be original. I'll let you be the judge. DRIVETRAIN: Original Matching Numbers 350 Engine is COMPLETELY REBUILT AND BALANCED IN AUGUST 2012. Less than 300 miles have been put on the engine since rebuilding. Engine Block Numbers: 12K608517 & T0330CTL. Car was originally equipped with Rochester 2 barrel carb. When engine was rebuilt - I reluctantly decided to replace the sorely underpowered 2 barrel carb with a brand new rebuilt Rochester 4 barrel carb. I have - of course - saved the original two barrel carb, intake manifold and air cleaner in a box which will go to next owner, Exhaust manifolds are (jet-hot ceramic coated), Even the alternator is the correct part number. Correct GM hoses with correct tower clamps. • Correct Matching Numbers Transmission, Stamped: 12K608517. Works perfectly fine. • Factory 12 bolt differential. Stamped: KDC 298 1. • Power Disc Brakes with original factory "Grooved" Rotors. • F41 suspension with boxed trailing arms (SS only). Engine compartment, drivetrain, and suspension shows some of the inspection markings and stickers. Drive shaft tube has correct striping. Car even has a new set of Spiral Shock Absorbers and a Fresh new Gas Tank complete with proper U.S. Steel Ink Stamp. This car runs VERY nice. Drive anywhere - or detail it out for show and save it for future appreciation. I have tried to be forthright and as detailed as possible to enable you to see the true condition of this vehicle. I don't like complaints and I'm sure you don't like surprises. See the NADA Guide for current value. I have priced the car WAY below what I feel it is worth. I have factored in all imperfections and wear into my price. It is what it is. The pictures speak for themselves. Its not a show car but its also not priced like a show car either. ($50,000 or higher as shown on NADA- See Below). Also note - NADAGuides shows value estimates for the BASIC car - and does NOT take into account all of the RARE and many options that are found on this particular car. Power Windows, Power Seat - (newly installed needs final hook up), Power Trunk Release and a whole lot more. This car is truly VERY loaded. See the list below. These items are NOT INCLUDED in this auction but may be available to buyer for additional cost. NOTE: Usage over the past 10 years has caused some wear. Aside from these minor items, THIS CAR IS DRAWS ALOT OF ATTENTION EVERYWHERE IT GOES. • Although paint job looks beautiful, the clear coat on the rear trunk area is beginning to wear and losing its mirror gloss. Several small wear spots (oddly enough) look like sticky finger prints. Hard to see unless I point them out. • There are 2 small (touched up) chips in the paint that are hard to see. No ding in the sheet metal at all, just 2 small paint chips. • Scratch on chrome front bumper - about 1" long. • Parking brake needs new cable. • Left signal does not cancel. • Flapper valve inside A/C ducting located under dash that switches from Hot to Cold Air likes to stick in the Hot position. I have another box assembly that seems to function properly but you'll need to switch it out. • A/C system works but isn't very cold. Not switched over to the newer type freon. Older freon is getting harder to acquire. Planned on switching over but haven't gotten around to it. FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If you have questions - please ask. You can also see tons of details and photos on westcoastcars dot net PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE BIDDING TO OWN THIS CAR - NOT FOR A CHANCE TO COME LOOK AT IT AND DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO BUY IT OR NOT. WHEN YOU PLACE A BID, YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT. This is NOT a desperation sale. I am selling this car to fund a business venture and to "thin the herd" a bit. Too many cars. If you do not intend to buy this vehicle then please don’t bid on it. If you truly don't have the money available - please don't bid on it. If you truly want an investment grade SS Chevelle CONVERTIBLE for profit and enjoyment - I enthusiastically invite you to bid. NOTE: This car is also for sale locally. I therefore reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. Thank you for viewing this auction. Please note that a $2000 non-refundable deposit is due within 2 business days after close of auction. Full balance of sale is due within 10 days of close of auction. Please note that 100% of the funds will need to be received and CLEARED before this car is shipped out! Shipping is 100% responsibility of the buyer. Also - to answer the "why are you selling it?" question ... I'm selling this car to fund my wife's business venture in the Philippines. Needs capital by December. Truly a great car! Unbelievable attention whenever I take it out. I would not sell this car if not for my wife's family business opportunity. I’ve owned this car since December 2002.
