Vehicle Detail
For sale is a very rare, almost impossible to find 1980 Volkwagen Golf Rabbit Kamei X1. Original 91,000 miles on the speedometer and a clean title!!!! As you can tell from the pictures, the car is absolutely beautiful for a 32 year old car. It has a very desirable rare Kamei X1 body kit which includes a body kit all around, the hood scoop, and a rear hatch window grate. This is the only one I’ve ever seen. It’s a shell only, however I’m including a 2.0 motor only with the vehicle. Makes a Perfect Restoration project for a VW enthusiast. Drop in a 1.8t or a VR6 and you’re good to go. You’ll have an authentic one of a kind ride. I’ll do my best to be as detailed and descriptive as I can, however I encourage anyone to come and look at the car prior to bidding and winning. Exterior Overall the body is in excellent condition. The exterior appears to have been repainted at one point. There are various spots of rust on the vehicle but for the most part, it’s all surface. The previous owner had plans on repainting the engine bay so he sprayed it with oven cleaner and after he stripped the paint. He did nothing else to it. It’s all surface rust and will come right off with light sanding. You can see in the pictures a lot of the engine bay is bare metal. All the pinch welds, jack points, and floors are solid and strong. Not too much body rot. The only body rot on the car is a small spot by the bottom hinge on the driver’s side door which makes the door sag a little and a small area around the back window on the tailgate (which is common for those vehicles). That’s basically it. Interior The car has a new carpet throughout the inside. Someone also took the time to Dynamat the floor pan to keep the noise out and prevent vibrations. The back seats are original and in perfect condition. The front seats are from a Corrado. They do have some rips and tears. Nothing a couple racing seats can’t fix. I have the front seats belts that are not installed on the vehicle. The car is missing the key but replacements are not hard to get. Engine I have a 2.0 VW motor for anyone that’s interested. I will include it free with the vehicle. Not sure on the mileage. No transmission. The radiator appears to be in new condition. Wheels The wheels are brand new. All four center caps are brand new. Tires have good tread but are old.
