Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1948 Lincoln Continental Convertible in project form. It belongs to a good friend of mine who asked if I would list it for him. I will give you the information as told to me and also how I see the car. To begin with what you see is what you get. A lot of the parts that belong to the car are in boxes, containers and some in a pile. I can not tell that every exact piece is there but what ever belongs to the car will go with it. This car belonged to someone out of Massachusetts that had it in a body shop to undergo a complete restoration. From what I understand it was there for a long time. It ended up getting sold to another person that just started bolting it back together in order to re-sell the car. My friend bought this in a package deal. When he started going through the parts he noticed the dash frame was missing. When Tom sells something he tells you what it is and what you are getting with the car. He was quite upset when he found out he wasnt getting the dash frame. I told him it really wasnt a big deal and that I would hunt around for one but he has a sour taste in his mouth now about the whole deal and just wants off of the car. The body on the car looks to have been in above average condition. All the sheet metal seems to be in decent shape. There is some minor perferations on the trunk floor pan and on the 2 side pans where the front floor board bolts in. It looks like the car has been taken off the frame and both the body and frame were sand blasted. Everything was put in primer. Looks like the body would be very easy to finish up. Frame is in beautiful shape. All the chrome has been re-done. Im sure this was an exspensive investment all by itself. The only pieces I see that are original and not rechromed are the 2 wings on the front bumper. They have some minor dullness on the lower rib. Even the top bows have been taken apart, all re-chromed and new front and rear bows replaced. I did see in a box the factory chrome rivets for the bows. There is a brand new set of 700-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion tires on the car. I went through some of the items and saw a real nice fuel tank, both front and back seats were re-done (naugahide not leather), underseat heaters, dash guages, radio, door and side panels (good only for patterns), all the glass, window lifts, convertible top pistons, wire harness, side stainless, rocker moldings, hub caps, latches for top, latches for trunk lid, all re-chromed knobs for the dash, etc. Tom did not get the V-12 motor either but he did get the radiator and the over drive transmission. He mentioned to me that when he purchased the car that everything that belonged to it was there and also some paper work. We will give you what we have but just bear in mind that there could be some missing items. We are selling the car on a noterized bill of sale. If there is a title in the paperwork, you will get it. Other than that, he is willing to register the car and transfer that to you should you need a title in your state. It would be a $150 extra for this service if you need it. This would be a great winter restoration project, a good donor body if yours is badly rusted, or would even make a nice gentleman street rod. Please check out my other auctions If you need more info or pics feel free to call or email us at 207-324-5568 days or 207-432-2862 eves and sundays
