Please read the entire listing before placing a bid and do not bid unless you're intending to purchase! This auction is a no reserve auction for a twin turbo charged R8 4.2. There was over $70k worth of extras spent on this R8. Unfortunately there's a major problem with this car that occurred due to a negligent wastegate upgrade at an Audi dealership. Long story short, the incorrect installation of the wastegates caused unregulated amount of boost to be forced into the engine causing damage to the rings. The R8 is currently located at another Audi dealership (with the best R8 tech in the nation) which has confirmed the diagnosis that there is ring damage inside cylinders. Compression test was performed on the cylinders showing the cylinder compression at 150psi at the highest and 135psi at the lowest. Cylinder leak down test was performed which indicates that cylinder one has 8% cylinder five has 5% cylinder four has 3% cylinder eight has 8% and cylinder six has 8% cylinder three has 6% cylinder seven has 6% and cylinder two is 3%. As far as symptoms, the car does smoke intermittently on start up and during the first mile of driving and the oil catch can fills up within 400 miles of driving with oil and byproducts of combustion. The dealership currently has the car recommends that the engine be replaced. As far as the factory options, it has B&O sound and Carbon Sigma Sideblades which in my opinion is the best color combination produced. As far as aftermarket items the car has the Heffner TwinTurbo upgrade kit installed with watercooled waste gates and dual setting electronic boost controller. I also had the air, water, and oil lines upgraded to Aeroquip Aircraft grade lines. The exhaust is Titanium wrapped all the way from the catalytics. The turbos are covered with specially made titanium boots. This combination keeps engine bay heat remarkably low. The total cost of this twin-turbo upgrade was over $55,000. The car also has HRE C63 20" wheels, Upgraded H&R springs, and upgraded front rotors. This car operated perfectly for two driving seasons with this setup before the botched wastegate upgrade. It was dyno tested at 439 wheel HP at 5500 feet elevation running at only 5.2 psi of boost! I had every intention to fix the car when the damage occurred but the fight with the dealership that caused the damage has dragged on and I have frankly lost interest. So now my loss is your gain! You get to own a very rare beast for the lowest price a bid allows! As stated above, the R8 is located at a dealership in Denver which is over a hundred miles away from me. So I am at mercy of others for pictures, but as you can see it is in excellent condition inside and out. I want to stress the car has no other issues other than the excessive blow by past the rings. It does start and does drive, although for legal reasons the car has only been transported since the problem was discovered. Most of the questions are in regards to quote for engine replacement, as well as why not rebuild the engine. I have a comprehensive quote from an Audi dealership I trust for $26,000.00 for engine replacement. The dealership recommends replacement over rebuild because they believe the additional tear down labor for the engine to determine exactly what costs and other associated costs make the cost of repair close enough to a new engine that it makes more sense to just replace it. This does not mean that a shop specializing in rebuilding the R8 engine could not do it for a better price. I never looked into rebuild as the litigation I'm involved in against the Audi dealer that damaged the car limits my options. Without going into detail, this is the main reason why I am forced to sell it. I am confident this will make an excellent project car! Good luck!
