1989 CADILLAC BROUGHAMBARN FIND! Fresh out of 10 year dry storage!Low Miles!Runs GREAT!Drive it home!NO RESERVE! Here it is folks--a classic 1989 Brougham--brought to you by The Standard of the World, Cadillac! This beauty is an honest to goodness Barn Find, well, cement floor, curtained windowed, insulated garage find, to be more accurate. This luxury liner has come back to life wonderfully, and will be a fabulous project for someone, or it's ready to drive now! I purchased this vehicle just a month ago locally out of an estate sale. I towed this beauty home, and with a brand new $110 battery (receipt included) and fresh fluids this car was purring smoothly and hitting the road again. It had been stored with an empty gas tank, so it did not suffer the ill effects of a varnished over gas tank and lines like many barn finds do. The first day I had this car running everything appeared to work! However, the next day the gas guage stopped functioning. It may need a new sending unit, or perhaps there's a fuse that needs replacing. I also discovered that the windshield wipers and squirters are inoperable. Napa has a new wiper motor/washer available for $75, so both of these items should be easy fixes for the buyer of this Caddy. The cruise control works flawlessly, as does the electronic climate control. The factory AM/FM cassette concert stereo and power antenna work perfectly! The power windows, seats. locks, and mirrors all work. 3 of the tires seem decent, but one of the rear tires is in poor shape. The spare appears to be like new and never to have been removed. I beleive the new owner would be fine driving this Caddy home on these tires if you don't live too far away, say within 100 miles. If you live further and want to drive this home, I would plan to switch to the spare, or make other arrangements. I do have a like-new set of Uniroyal Tire Paw radial tires that I would sell with the car for an additional $200, plus whatever installation would cost at the local garage. They truly have only 50 miles on them, and they have the narrow white wall that looks so great on this type of car. The body and paint are in remarkably decent shape for a car this age. The car does have a little rust starting on the bottoms of some of the doors, and there are maybe half a dozen (total) dime-sized paint bubbles on the doors. From my experience the body is in very good condition, and it is way above average. The rear fiberglass filler panels appear to have been replaced some time previously, and these have no cracking or disintegrating on them (which is usually common), and they look great. Pump the gas once or twice and the 307 Oldsmobile powerplant starts effortlessly. The carburetor seems to work flawlessly. I have driven the car daily for the past month. The driver's side valve cover is seeping some oil. I'm sure the gasket was dried out from the car not being run for 10 years. The passenger side valve cover doesn't seem to be leaking. I had my mechanic tighten down the valve covers to help remedy this, but you might decide to replace the valve cover gaskets down the road. There's nothing leaking anywhere else on the drivetrain. One of the front brake lines had a leak, but I had my mechanic replace that brake line. Receipt included. The family I bought the car from stated that in 2002 (just before the car had been parked) the 307 Oldsmobile engine had been repalced with a $4000 GM Goodwrench engine from the local Cadillac dealer. I do not have documentation to prove this, and the Cadillac dealer said their computer purges records after 7 years, so there is no evidence to support this. However, I think the family's claim may be correct, as the motor runs very nicely and quietly. Power is good, and the exhaust is whisper quiet. The inside is just excellent on this Caddy. The great leather interior is in superb shape, and the fact that it was stored out of direct sunlight has preserved it nicely. The driver's seat belt female receiving end is inoperable. But the front middle seat belt works fine, so I just buckle the driver's belt to the middle receiving end. The shocks all around could probably use refreshing, as they likely are the originals. On a nice blacktop, though, this cruiser still floats along nicely. The vinyl top appears to be original, and as such has a couple pea-sized imperfections. I don't believe I would replace it, but it is not showroom perfect. The rear trunk emblem was missing, but I'm including a new one and the wreath surround, for the new owner to install. I may be forgetting some aspects of this car, so if you have a question please do send along through the eBay message system. I check it often. This is a pretty honest to goodness ol' Caddy. I think the new owner is going to be pleased with it. It could be a great winter project for someone. Or you could start driving it instantly. With the one tire situation solved, I would feel comfortable driving this cross country. Bidders with feedback less than 5 please contact me before bidding so that I can verify your good business intentions. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! So, please only bid what you are willing to pay. The car comes with a current title and registration, and Minnesota buyers will have plates and tabs for 12 months. And this car is eligible for collector plates in most places. Enjoy the auction! On Nov-04-12 at 20:17:51 PST, seller added the following information: **Thank you for the tremendous interest in this Caddy! I was watching a bit of Paul Newman's The Color of Money this weekend, and I believe this looks just like the car in that movie!!!! One item to note: The rear passenger side wheel well does have a scuff on it and some denting to the chrome trim there. (in the dog leg area) This has been touched up and looks decent, but I wanted to make sure you take note of it. Happy Motoring!
