Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on an all original 1983 Camaro Z28. I am the second owner of the car. This car is a perfect candidate for restoration. The paint is all original and the body has no rust. By no means is the paint perfect, however with the correct prep work, it will resparay very nicely. It is Red in color, with gray trim and a orange decal around the bottom. That orange decal is chipping and dry rotten as you can see in the pictures. This will have to be sanded off and primed in order to repaint. The gas gap has paint chipping, good news on that is it is seperate from the rest of the car, so it can only get so bad and not ruin the whole fender. the paint has faded on the rear hatch, see pictures. The clearcoat overall is pretty decent, it is not perfect but for being the age that it is, id say it survived pretty well. The interior is the worst part of the vehicle. It is not horrible, it is actually very good but it needs some minor work. It is missing the Headliner. That is the worst thing. it was removed by the previous owner because the T-Tops leak slightly. this is all a pretty easy fix, once you replace the weather stripping then a new headliner can be installed. The leather is in great shape, except for the driver seat. The bottom cusion is torn in the seams in several spots. The leather is all intact, but the stiching has come undone. This is not a very expensive repair. The dash board has 2 cracks, not as bad as some others you see in these Camaros. The water temp. gauge does not work, I do not know if the gause is faulty or if it is wiring issue. I see that wiring by the senor under the hood is a little exposed, maybe that is the issue. The speedomer works, and is actuarate +,- 1 mph to my GPS, and the odometer is fully functional too. Gas gause, Volt, and oil psi all work. The Tachometer works, but will randomly quit, and then work again. I have heard that these tachs are so innacurtate to begin with, it is not a huge loss. Mechanicly the car is very good for its age. It has relatively low miles, at 94,450. I still have the car insured, and registered so I still drive it. Once it sells I will park it and not drive it until it is yours. The Original owner obviously maintained it because I have about 1,000 miles on the new oil/filter and it still looks nice and golden. I used conventional Castrol 10w-30 and an ACDelco filter. I replaced all 8 spark plugs recently with ACDelco std copper plugs. I also replaced the Cap and Rotor. The car has the original shocks, If i were keeping it i would replace them. New shocks would drastically improve the handling. It goes down the road straight and the steering it tight. This car can easily be driven to where you live. I replaced a few belts, I think it has the wrong alternator on it, because the pully is a 3/4" and all the others are 1/2". Not a big deal, just once and a while the belt will squeal. I took both front sets of brakes apart recently and sanded everything smooth, the pads have about 50% left. Rotors are not warped. the brakes release fully, and both rear drums are good, and both get nice and warm after braking. The parking brake works as well. All tires hold air, and dont leak. the tread is almost like new. They are the stock size BFG Radial T/A. the tires have a small amount of dry rot. not bad at all. also, i took apart the right front wheel bearing to inspect them. They looked good, and i repacked with high temp disc brake grease. The transmission shifts so smoothly, the fluid is nice and red and doesnt smell at all. the torque converter locks up in 3rd (D) and 4th (OD) gear, with no slipping. Please pay withing 7 days of auction ending. There is a $500 deposit you must pay. You MUST come pick up the car. I WILL NOT ship the vehicle. I am located in central Virginia just outside of Lynchburg. my zip code is 24551. Thank you. Goodluck Bidding! This is my first time selling a car on Ebay. PLEASE if you have any questions feel free to call me at 434-509-7797 or email me. If i dont answer, I am probably working and I will call back, just leave a message. On Oct-30-12 at 18:47:23 PDT, seller added the following information: there are a few minor things, Like the struts for the rear hatch do not support the weight, the stereo has blown speakers. It has the original casette deck still. Everything you would expect for a 29 year old car. On Oct-30-12 at 18:51:01 PDT, seller added the following information: there are a few minor issues, like the rear hatch struts do not support the hatch. Those arent too expensive. The rear defrost doesnt work, the stereo doesnt work well, it has the original casette deck still with the original speakers, so you could assume that anyway. It needs a little work to be restored but the key parts of the car are in great shape.
