Vehicle Detail

I just bought this for a restoration project & it took me no time to get it back on the road. I would keep it, but at the same time I restored this one, I restored a 5 speed 928. The previous owner purchased this car in 1994 with only 27,708 miles. It currently shows 98,259, but the odometer stopped working very recently according to the last owner. The transmission shifts smoothly & properly throughout all the gears, but I recommend a transmission fluid & filter change as the previous owner didn't recall having ever done it. Recent service includes: Replaced Fuel pumpFlushed fuel system Turned all four brake rotors & inspected brake pads. Oil and Filter changeAdjust and tighten engine Flex plateReplace exhaust manifold to "Y" pipe gaskets & bolts I just updated the old tires with chrome 18" OEM Porsche Boxster rims with 4 matching Sumitomo HTRZ3 tires. Front are 225/40ZR 18 88W & rear are 265/35ZR18. Computer balanced in August 2012. Some of the rims have curb rash & flaking that has been touched up with chrome spray paint. The car was repainted in 1997 & still shows very nicely, but not perfect. It looks like a 5 year old car typically looks. The spark plug wires appear functional, but are brittle & I recommend replacing them, along with the distributor cap & rotor button. I am willing to replace those items free of charge if you cover the cost of parts prior to picking up the vehicle. The replacement AM/FM cassette unit didn't work, so I pulled it out for a future modern unit. The Power antenna does work though. This car is nearly 30 years old & looks & rides good, but there are some issues: Passenger electric seat does not slide forward or back. (stuck)Passenger window does not retract (stuck up, drivers side is fine)Odometer does not work (very common on these models) Fuel gauge doesn't appear to work, but the reserve light is on. I will add fuel & see if the light goes out. Voltage indication & speedometer only works sometimes, but the tachometer works fine. The Climate control doesn't seem to work right, but when you go to DEFROST, the fan blows MAX & you can adjust the temp coming out of the defroster, so the fan does work. Sunroof doesn't work, but the motor does click. I'm guessing it just needs the motor replaced.Cracking in the leather of the seats (see photos)Rust in the hatch area needing sanding & touch-up. If you want the original "Slot" rims that came with the car, I will include them for $50 each. I've done my best to accurately describe this vehicle and I will post updates and answer any questions, but please understand this car is nearly 30 years old. Please come and inspect prior to purchase. Please don't bid if you don't have the money, or need permission from your significant other or whatever. The car is being sold as-is. I will hold this car for up to 30 days free of charge for you to make arrangements to pick it up. I will work with any transport company you choose as well. I would feel comfortable driving this car several hundred miles, but I'd have it thoroughly gone over if you plan to drive it cross-country. I've owned several 928's & this is one of the nicest I've had. The only reason I'm not keeping it is I'm keeping my '80 5 speed 928!! On Nov-01-12 at 13:33:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I added 10 gallons of premium fuel & the red low fuel level indicator went out on the fuel gauge, but no reading in the indicator. I swapped a known good fuel sending unit from my 928 5 speed & no change. The sender from this car worked in my 5 speed, so the problem is either in the wiring to the instrument cluster, or the gauge in the cluster. I've owned several of these 928's & sometimes these odd electrical gremlins solve themselves. I also cleaned & treated the K&N air filter & want to mention the windshield is in great shape with no cracks or chips.
