Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my super Rare 1971 401 4sp AMX. factory Mustard Yellow as in the dealer Brochure. with air conditioning and machine wheels. Let me just start by saying there were 2054 AMX's built in 1971 od which there were only 745 401 Z code cars built and then you had the automatic and 4 sp breakdown that if you even said half that be about 373 and then add A.C to this muscle car and who knows how many were built, never mind left. I had been looking for a 71 401 4sp for 12 plus years and found this about a month ago and bought it instantly. This car is super solid with a couple of small rust repairs needed. I was pretty excited when I got it. Three weeks later another I new about came up for sale and I wanted it more because of its color combo. It is mine now and allthough I would like to I can't keep both so here is the Mustard Yellow for sale foe some lucky person to buy and own one of AMC's highly sought after Muscle cars. This car lived its life in Oklahoma where at some point the orig 401 was blown up and changed out to a 304. At that time no one could predict the future of these cars so it was junked. It was last on the road in 1985. It does start and run but would need some work to drive as is. The body is very solid with a couple of small rust spots on each lower quarter and some small holes in the passenger side floor. It has a dent in the driver side quarter right behind the door that should be an easy fix for a good body guy. The trunk, inner quarter drop offs, rockers, gussets or fender troughs, engine bay panels, bottoms of doors, door jambs, and pretty much the whole car is solid. All glass is good/ The interior will need some redoing. The carpet was baked and brittle. I started to work on it and have pulled the old carpet out. It has the factory AMX guage cluster with an AM radio. The orig seats will need recovering also. It has the correct 71 only console with the 4sp overlay. All though some of it is still apart I will assemble the majority of it even though it will have to come back apart for a new carpet. The complete AC system is there and probably not functioning as I would guess it has lost its freon over the years. It has its dual snorkel (71 only) air cleaner but is missing the top. The grill screen is also missing. The machine wheels will be changed out as my other one has them but they are missing the trim rings so it will have a very nice set of machine wheels but no trim rings. It also came with the black vinyl roof inserts and all the trim is there. I did find the build sheet unfortunately it was in a mouse nest in pieces. I saved as much as I could. You will be hard pressed to find a more RARE ORIG car to restore and have the value in the end. This car is sold as is as seen as described with no expressed warranty. Please ask all questions and if you want more pics let me know by sending an email address as its the easiest way to send them. I Resreve the right to end the auction early as it is advertised in a fw other places. Shipping is the sole responsability of the buyer allthough I will assist in loading of car.On Oct-15-12 at 19:42:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that this is an original paint car so what you see is what you get, no cover up!On Oct-18-12 at 09:05:12 PDT, seller added the following information: THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!
