Offered here is a 1939 Packard Super 8 Series 1703 sedan. Owned for 30+ years, the owner had the car originally restored for The Great American Race in 1983 which it successfully completed from California to Indianapolis and back. The vehicle is an excellent driver running a straight 8 engine matched to 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. New brakes have recently been installed with new tires mounted just 5k miles ago. On display at the Murphy Automobile Museum in Oxnard, CA, (which specializes in vintage Packards), the owner recently had the in-house mechanic go over the car to ready it for this sale. Condition: Prior restoration. Paint is rough showing its age in areas with chips etc.. The chrome door handles and mirrors show pitting with the bumpers being restored some time in the past. The interior upholstery is acceptable but is also showing some use as are the carpets and headliner. All woodgraining appears to be the original finish. Most exposed gauge faces are in need of restoration. The radio is in need of repair. The windshield glass is delaminating. (see photo) The car is a solid California driver.
