Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbodiesel. This is the last year for this body style and engine. The engine is an OM617.952 straight 5. It started life with around 125HP/180lbft torque. While not all of that is left, it certainly is a strong ride. The good:Nearly all electronics work. A 15A fuse is all that needs to be replaced (2 extras included).Drivers seat and rear seat are very comfortableWhen she's warmed up, she has a pretty good amount of spunk. While you won't win any drag races, you will perform on par with other vehicles from this eraKeeps up very nicely with freeway traffic. She only has 304,5xx miles! The OM617 motor by Mercedes is world renown for its durability. Ask any Mercedes diesel mechanic on the highest mileage OM617's they've worked on, and you'll hear that 300,000 miles isn't quite half way through its life. Many OM617 motors exceed 800,000.Has a Garret T3 Turbo, which is a very common turbo system! Two brand new tires in the backFull sized spare in the trunkBrand new chrome grill & Mercedes emblemBrand new front turn indicatorsBrand new windshield wiper nozzlesBrand new rear bumper impact stripBrand new electric window buttons in center consoleHas never had WVO run through it. Might be good for a conversion, but that's a lot of work. The bad:Low-maintenance paint job. It lost its luster many years ago. The upshot is that you don't have to keep it washed too often.Driver's side door panel is banged up. This keeps the driver's side window from effortlessly rolling all the way up and down (it will with a lot of convincing, but I don't recommend it)Passenger's side seatbelt is locked in the fully extended mode. If you have an incredibly overweight friend, however, this might not be an issue.A/C doesn't work. But I'll throw in the Continental AVX13x925 belt to help you get it back on trackIt's a 1985 car, and you really need to stay up on obscure maintenance items, such as valve adjustment. This can be done about every 60,000 miles but it's about $100 per go.Front bumper impact strip isn't mounted. But it comes with the car (still in the bag). I had time to put the back one on, but not the front."Custom" exhaust, because the exhaust hangers are now missing. It could be tightened up a bit, but about $100 and a muffler shop will do it.Passenger side carpet is in the trunk for some reason. Hey, that's the way I got it.It does leak a small amount of oil (overnight about you'll see a spot the size of a half-dollar at max). This could be a plus, because if you don't see any oil in the morning, you'll know that you're out of oil.The ugly:I don't have time to finish working on this car. "Get rid of the 'Benz.". You don't mess with women.I have a box of parts I didn't have an opportunity to put on. The parts go in the trunk with the car (or wherever you decide to put them, I suppose. That's your choice).
