For sale is my pride and joy 1981 (It is a 1981 not a 1980) mercedes 300gd rare cabriolet convertible with hard top. The G has been garaged for most of its life. In fact, it was owned by a snowbird here in Florida who left the car (abandoned) in an underground garage of a luxury condo building for nearly 13 years before it was auctioned off to myself. i swapped the engine for another non turbo 3.0 5 cylinder the same as the original engine, because I wasn't sure what potential problems lurked inside the old engine. I bought the engine from a certified mercedes shop around town with 140,000 miles and it runs like a champ. I've been driving it around town for about 5 months and it runs great. Anywhere I stop, people really take notice and get complimented regularly. It has brand new glowplugs and fuel filters as well. The car features the following: 4x4 locking differentiel in front and rear (have some air in the lines and need to be bled) Newer 31x10.5x15 tires in about 80-90% condition Working becker cassette stereo with upgraded speakers (Good sound) it is connected to a Sony CD changer that I can't quite figure out how to work but it powers on?? Working heater Working cold AC unit (BEHR) very RARE factory option. Original removable fiberglasss top in good condition no leaks Spare tire holder with mercedes logo cover and tire attached in good condition Original 4 speed manual transmission Speedometer, tach, work perfect. The temperature and fuel gauges work but jump around a bit, probably a loose connection (electrical should be gone over, I've been driving as is) Brush guard Fog Lights Berber carpet professionally laid and fit over original vynil flooring (in great shape) The in interior is really in excellent shape, with no rips or tears on the seats and the dash has only one small crack at the edges of where the speaker grill screws in The body and paint are in good condition the car was repainted before it was garaged and looks good, you could wash and wax this baby and pull up to any country club in style! I can't find any rust on the frame any surface rust found was sanded a POR15. In other words,The body is strong as a rock! This is truly a fantastic specimen of a 32 year old G wagon that will definitely offer years of enjoyment and increase in value over time (if maintained). Clean Clear Florida title in hand.
