Vehicle Detail

Car came with factory color of a dull yellow, was painted white 14 years ago, roof vynil top color black was replaced at same time, interior is factory black, everything including ceiling in car is orignal, everything works on dash, installed a cd player 8 years ago, did not cut dash, still have and comes with orignal AM Radio and face plate, the 26000 miles plus is orignal OD mileage, has 4 tires on dull yellow rims and hub caps included, No rust under car, still can see yellow color on under body, it also comes with 4 chrome rims and 4 other tires. The tires on car are street legal but only have about 5000 miles left of wear, tires showing age as were put on in 1986, this car is solid also has two snow tires. Car starts first try every time, no matter the weather, no smoke, car has been kept in a garage since 1998 only taken out for shows in Sumer time. Exhaust is good except for tail pipe after muffler, had hole there and was repaired with muffler tape, no holes in seats, doors, everything is as was from factory, ceiling is still tight does not hang. Only reason I am giving up this car, is I have Cancer and need money for treatment, otherwise I would not sell her. I have a non-profit tax id, so this purchase can be listed as a donation for tax purposes. Purchase is cash due after 7 days of sale. On Sep-23-12 at 21:00:26 PDT, seller added the following information: New Info A Need to Know! I failed to say or inform everybody, Pictures showed on site were taken Sept 4, 2009! The Javelin has been in storage since the date I just posted here! My husband has been unable to get to our cars since late 2009, As his wife as he has been fighting his Cancer, I have visited each AMC he has and have started each auto twice a month since 2009, thats how I know it starts first time everytime, the Javelin sits in a sheltered garage with three layers of plastic covering the concrete floor, with a thick form and rug on-top, the Javelin has been on blocks as not to get flat spots on the tires, Today my husband came off his chemo treatment, I was able to talk with him as he regains his strength from his treatment, he is at present in CTCA in Chicargo, IL. When I listed the car I forgot to put in the detail that the car has been housed since end of 2009, which he told me to add, I will be meeting with a friend of ours after work tomorrow, to take pictures under hood inside the car, trunk and around the Javelin and will take a short video of it running with hood up, our friend is a machanic and will help me answer questions about the issue's about engine and so on, it is Ken's hope that our friend John will be able to jack the car up, remove blocks, and drive it out of garage so we can get on the lift pictures under the car, then it will be driven back to the garage, and kept off blocks for now, while it is listed, but my husband wants the car to stay garaged after we get pictures and information people want, reason for keeping it housed is bacause we live close to the salt water, and even sea mist at night, can start chipped paint surface rust just in a few days of being kept outside, John is also going to do a water test at a car wash, Ken wants this done so we know seals around windows have not dry rotted from being stored in doors so long, it did not leak in 2009 but its a good test to check while its out of storage, John will look at brakes oil, and things to make sure we can answer if it can be driven long distance as some have asked, my hope is to have all this info well before listing closes. Thanks for being patint with me! Paula On Sep-25-12 at 12:09:29 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a update on 1968 Javelin, by our Machanic; 24 Pictures are now online, the most asked for items, Trunk under Hood, Interior. I spent last night removing carb-webs from this car and wipe-ing it down, I had to get it off blocks as car was not on garage floor, which is covered in plastic. Car started, runs fine, I looked all around body of car, inside door passenger door as was to tight to get around other end, I rolled around on my back to check under body of car the rocker panels look good and solid out and in, gas tank, breaks, cables wipers, horn, lights, are working fine not bad for a car in storage since 2009, I did notice that heater value under-hood is stuck in place I am going to try and move it back and forth to free it up, I treated the black roof top with some, vynil top conditioner, it was very dry, I noticed in several plases in the past, my friend kept up with any small scatches or spots that had become bear metal with touch up paint, I wanted to make sure these spots on hood and door were not rot thrus seeing the touch ups were done by hime in or around 2009, they as I inspected them were surfase spots only, so for example if you look at hood top you will see two small touch up spots in either conor of hood, if one opens hood and gets a good look at the under part there is no rust there, passengers door I looked at a touched up spot there also on outer lower edge when one opens the door no rust on inside, I used a prick tool to test any touch up spots from 2009 and all were solid no holes, so it was surface rust he had spot touched, the paint job was done by Earl Shrive 14 years ago, its like a one coat thin layer of white paint, it stuck around trunk cover when I opened it, so some white paint stuck to rubber seal around trunk, just wiped it off, truck floor is in solid condtion, some begining of surface rust showing, but thats all it is, surface! Inside car this really has orignal carpet and headliner, and seats, carpet has faded since its 44 years old, but seats no rips I could see, Headliner still tight no hangs no cracked dash board, although on drivers side defrost vent near wind shield the plasic seems to have risen by about a half of inch, but unless you really look hard you don't see it, temp gauge works clock was ticking away, going to put some fresh gas inside of tank, on under body every one this morning were surprised to see the rubber still in the leaf springs, don't build them like that anymore, but reall under body is solid all the way around, tires have some thread, but outer walls show some cracks and valve stems, the exhaust is solid except for tail pipe it looks as if in 2009 Ken used tail pipe tape to cover a hole after the muffler, cald not tell how big the original hole was cause tape is still in tack, engine and trany are not leaking fluids nor is the rear end. I would point out behind right wheel there are some bumps on rear quater but from underside not rusted thru, but should be surfaced sanded and touch painted soon, I think because it is kept inside all of the time that it has kept this car solid for so long. I asked the owner by phone, was there any rust repair before he had car paint 14 years ago, he stated that behind passengers side front wheel only, there was metal welded in by a company called Rust Tech, and the painter Earl Shrive finished over the top of the new metal in 1998, meaning welded metal is under the body coat in that spot, I checked behind that fender and you can see it was cut out and new metal replaced it. Which I must say is the right way to do it, everything under hood is original parts from factory including carb and so on, oil is clean, radiator is full, I took it for a drive when I got it on lift, car turns on a dime, power steering is really col on this Javelin, I am a Ford guy, and I have never seen a car as long as this one is steer so easy, the correct Mileage by the way taken from the OD its-self is 47,385.5. This engin has never been rebuilt or the carb, eveything as was when bought new, I think not using it since 2009 is what make the heater valve freeze up, I will try and free it, but car travels well, put 10 miles on it this morning without puting gas in it and drove on and off highway, smooth ride, I have a 1968 Cougar and I wish it was in this condition, I would really say that the tires need to be replaced as the rubber sidewalls show cracks, if I were asked iif this car could make a 100 mile trip if one drove it normal I would have to say yes it would go with no problem, I saw no smoke from tail pipe, since oil is still gold in color and full after siting since 2009, that is not bad, as far as I can see, like said before, you can see from carpet fade inside car that its been there since the begining, but not cracks or tears in seats back or front, rear view mirror is a bit touchy but I think it can be tightened, since everything I can see is from factory, I would replace vacume hoses, even belts, and hoses from radiator, rubber along window between door and window as attached to door have or should be replaced to keep water out of insides of door were window slides down into, I also check car at a local car wash, spray the whole car down, no leaks inside car or around any windows, gas gauge seems to be floating back and forth while driving, I check electric part of gauge by grounding it at gas tank, gauge went straight to full so that part is good, gauge still works but, I think in time the float might have to be replaced, I am surprised its still working my Ford truck a 1997 I have replaced the float sending unint twice since owning it, this is 45 years old and it still works, My final coment, is the car is a 1968 as per build date on car, in door and under hood, and one must realize the age of the Javelin, your going to se things like a float go bad if one drives it allot or a radator might start to leak under heavy use, but there are no signs of that now, but who ever buys the car, you should replace hoses seals and keep it free from harsh weather. One this age around salt water don't look like this around here as a normal, the owner has kept it clean and dry. Good luck in bidding as you will be getting a solid car. John Ok as promised pictures are online, John has gone through it, so its going back to storage for now, if any other questions feel free to email thru Ebay, if one wants history by phone email me and I will call CH. IL. at CTCA and get my husband to answer any details about its upkeep or other details. Thanks Paula
