Vehicle Detail
I purchased this from a good friend several years back who had to sell it due to his moving out of state. He was assembling it from a conglomeration of mid year Corvette body parts and what I believe was a 70s Malibu suspension and partial frame. I have fondly nicknamed it Frankenvette. I think he was leaning towards making it a 66 since he filled in the pillar vents and the front clip is 65-66 compatible. The body was purchased from a local auto salvage yard where I remember seeing it in their far back corner for many years. He was finally able to talk them out of it. He then took it home and started to patch in the cracked and broken areas to somewhat complete the main body shell. The back half of the frame is a mid 70s Corvette and the front half with suspension is from the Malibu. He then mounted what I believe to be the straight rear axle from the Malibu (which has broken gears in it and is only good for rolling the car around) complete with leaf springs. This required cutting a section out of the rear floor to accommodate the upper shock mounting brace that was welded to the frame. I have the original floor piece that he cut out and it could be re-glassed in without too much effort. The bird cage is in very nice solid condition with the exception of a poorly welded joint in the windshield pillar area that could be easily remedied by grinding and re-welding. The left quarter panel appears to be a new part that is partially bonded on. The front clip is not attached and has new inner fenders that are also only partially bonded on. The left hand door is in very nice condition. The right hand door has had fiberglass repair work to the inside and outside. The front header panel and headlight mounting areas and adjoining metal are in nice condition as well. There is obviously no engine, transmission, wiring, interior, steering column, etc and the only glass included is in the right hand door. There is no VIN plate and no trim plate. I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE AND THIS WILL BE SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY. The aluminum wheels on it appear to be 80s Camaro and the front tires look brand new with the exception that they are probably quite old. This is a MAJOR project car and due to heat from the local code enforcement, I must reduce the project load in my yard. I would prefer local pickup on this and can store it up to 30 days free beyond the purchase date, after prompt full payment, of course. If you are going to have it shipped, you must make 100% of the shipping arrangements and keep in mind that the majority of transport companies don't deal with inoperable vehicles. I can help load it from this end, though. This auction is for real. Please be serious about your bids - the reserve is set relatively low. Thank you.
