We are a VW specialty shop and we work almost exclusively on TDI cars. For sale is a beautiful Volkswagen Jetta Diesel wagon. This is a one owner car, and has been amazingly maintained over all the years and miles. This car has a 'Pump-Deuce' injection TDI engine, code "BEW".These are remarkable engines - they are powerful, burn very clean and achieve 45 mpg easily in mixed driving. There are shortcomings to these engines, however - the camshaft is a known wear item if proper oil isn't used, and the timing belt HAS to be replaced in time. This particular car doesn't have these shortcomings. It has a brand new timing belt kit, will all idlers, rollers, tensioners, water pump and everything else that's a maintenance item already replaced. It also has a professionally rebuilt head, will all new valves, valve guides, seals, camshaft, camshaft bearings and lifters. The 4-speed automatic transmissions on earlier cars (1999-2003), code 01m, were troublesome, but the transmission in 2004+ cars is completely different. Made by Jatco, a Japanese company (spin off from Nissan), this car has a 5-speed 'Tiptronic' transmission that is shaft-able with the gear selector. It is also reliable, and does not suffer premature failure like the earlier transmissions. Because it has 5 gears, vs. 4 in the older transmission, it's also better for fuel efficiency!
