Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1940 Cadillac 60 Special 4dr Fleetwood Sedan. This car is a true ‘barn find’, even though it’s been in my own barn for the last 20 years. It has the original paint and interior and my guess is that it’s been stored indoors for most of its life. If you look closely at it, it’s very complete and very solid. NO RUST at all on the car. The car has been in our family for close to 20 years stored indoors. The previous owner had it parked for another 20 years before that. We never touched it since the day we bought it other than moving it around, so the condition is the same as when we got it. My dad and I planned on restoring it, but life happens and we never got around to it so it’s time to sell. The car is very complete with every single piece of trim and molding. The hood, trunk and doors all open and close and all of the body panels line up. The original glass is all there and nothing is broken. It even has the glass taillights and glass front marker lights. The original flying lady hood ornament is intact as well. The car was loaded with a ton of original upgraded options including the front bumper guards, dual side mounts, heater and radio. This was the top of line as far as options go for this model. It also has the original wheels and hubcaps. I believe that there were only about 4500 of these made, so it’s a pretty rare car considering the upgrades that this one has. The original engine is complete all the way down to fuel lines and wiring. Obviously, everything on the car needs full restoration, as far as I know, the car hasn’t been on the road for about 40 years. We've never even tried to start it. The car rolls and steers without a problem. I have three 1940 Cadillacs that I’m selling, 1 coupe and 2 sedans, so if you have any questions, just contact me and we can discuss it. They are all very solid cars and would make excellent vehicles for restoration. Pre-war Cadillacs are incredibly hard to come by, especially ones that are original and haven’t been chopped up, modified or stripped. Since they’re Cadillacs, once restored, they can be worth double the cost of restoration, unlike many other cars on the road, which makes them very good candidates for restoration or long term investments. A deposit of $500 will be due within 48 hours of the auction ending through Paypal, and the remainder due within 10 days. It is your responsibility for picking up the vehicle and transporting it. The vehicle must be picked up within 14 days of the auction ending, otherwise there will be storage fees incurred, I am not a car dealer or a storage yard, I’m a private individual. Do not bid unless you have the money and these guidelines can be followed. I prefer to sell to the continental US only because of the hassle involved with international transactions. On Sep-15-12 at 20:09:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I uploaded a few more detailed pics of the car including the radio, clock and heater controls. I've had a few questions about the car, so I'll try to answer some of them. The car has 4 original wheels and hubcaps, and I'll be putting new tubes in them in the next few days so that it can be moved. I don't have the keys to the side mounts for the spare tires, but I dont believe that there are any tires in them. The odometer and title both say 74,198 original miles and I do believe that is the correct mileage. I dont remember exactly, but I believe that the guy that I bought the car from said that the car was running when it was parked 40 years ago, but then it just sat after that. The car has an Arizona title thats free and clear with no liens. It is NOT a salvage title either. On Sep-19-12 at 08:28:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Please do not bid unless you are a serious buyer and you meet the criteria listed in my auction. There have been a few deadbeats who arent serious about buying the car, so please read the entire auction and make sure that you can meet the buying requirements. On Sep-19-12 at 21:10:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I added 2 more pictures, one of them is the original Cadillac Owners Card on the inside kick panel of the car. It shows that it was sold to a guy who worked at the Boeing plant in Everett, Washington in February of 1940. It's just an interesting item that I didnt know about the car. I also took a pic of the underside of the body and frame to show how good the quality of the vehicle is. There's zero rust on the body or frame, and the original oak wood body mounts are still in there separating the body from the frame.
