*** 1960 MERCEDES 180B PONTON SEDAN -- NO RESERVE! *** NOTE: Vehicle is being relisted due to non-paying bidder. Please ensure that funds are ready to complete the purchase before bidding. Bidders with low or negative feedback must contact me before bidding. Thank you. Offered at no reserve is a vintage 1960 Mercedes-Benz 180B Ponton sedan. While not considered mint, this car is in nice condition for it's age with a solid and straight body. It was partially restored many years ago (sections of the floors were replaced at that time) and the car was fully painted in British Racing Green (original color was black) and the interior was fitted with new tan leather, carpeting, and headliner. Many of the rubber seals were replaced as well. The car has an excellent running engine (smooth and doesn't smoke) that fires right up hot or cold and features a smooth-shifting four-speed manual transmission on the steering column. There are a few minor issues, however, which are not surprising for a 52-year-old classic that has been driven and enjoyed. The ignition key has recently decided to stick in the ignition lock cylinder so one must connect the battery under the hood and press the factory "start" button on the dash to turn the car on and disconnect it to turn it off (battery switch has been attached to the battery temporarily to make this easy). The lock cylinder on the driver's door is not working properly either so the car must be locked/unlocked from the passenger side. While the car runs great, it has developed a vibration at speeds above about 25mph which I believe is due to the age of the tires which I am told have probably separated on the inside. The paint looks good and is still very shiny but the trunklid needs cut-polishing as it has been poorly resprayed since the repaint and there are small blisters under the paint at the rear due to improper paint prep. Overall, however, the car is in great shape for its age and with a little TLC will be ready for many more years of enjoyment. It is definitely fun to drive and turns a lot of heads!
