You are bidding on a track ready 1996 BMW M3. Based upon the power to weight ratio it can be raced in GTS3/IP (NASA/BMWCCA). 2780lbs, 250-60 whp(never dynoed but similar m3’s run these same numbers. The top of the motor was rebuilt due to a bad head gasket, during the rebuild I installed the Supertech high performance valve spring kit, which allows the motor to rev safely upwards of 7400 rpms. When the top of the engine was rebuilt a UUC Organic clutch kit with an 8.5lb aluminum flywheel was also installed. The clutch kit came with a EVO SSK which is adjustable. The stock fan was taken out and a spal fan was installed which has to be turned on manually through a switch inside of the car. The new fan cools the motor faster due to its higher rpms. If you car is idling and the fan isn’t turned on there is a tendency for the water temperature to rise, which is normal due to the schrick cams which make the engine run hotter. After the driven the car and broke in the motor I took the car to Hugh at Hi SPeed Motorsports in Connecticut where he drove and inspected the car. He replaced the oil, oil filter, rebuilt the passenger side coil over and changed the thermostat to a lower temp t-stat. The car runs like a champ, but the fan must be turned on to cool the motor when it is in idle. The buyer can inspect the car to see if there are any issues or you can contact Hugh to ask any him because he serviced the car these past 2 years. I am selling the car because I am establishing a new business and I need to build capital. If it were not for the new venture I would not sell the car, because I have put some much time, money and parts. To build a similar car with all of the suspension, engine, cage, seats,rims,tires etc would cost over $30,000. You are getting a track ready M power which is capable and can be raced competitively or used as a weekend track car. What makes this M3 rare is that it Dakar yellow and it does not have a sunroof. The car has some scratches and dents but they are minor and can be fixed or buffed out. The car has 102K miles and is sold as is, there is no warranty.
