(CORRECT 1972 BLOCK, Coded D2, intake coded D3)*******RUNS GREAT******* Finding an original looking Explorer Sport is extremely difficult. Most early broncos were just the typical base model. A step up from base in 1972 was the Explorer model or the Sport. This Bronco has BOTH factory options, Explorer and Sport..... And the fenders don't have cut out flares. Engine: 302 2 barrel with 18,000 miles on rebuild. Odometer currently reads approx 130k and that is original mileage to the Bronco. It runs very smooth and starts up without any smoke. Stock exhaust manifolds and factory style air cleaner. (front snorkel removed) 3 speed transmission works smooth, clutch feels great (was replaced with engine rebuild with 18000 miles only). Brakes work fine. The body was stripped to bare metal; all of the interior and exterior trim were removed. Paint was redone in a Ford Bronco factory color scheme, in 2306 Bay Blue Poly with Wimbledon White stripes which were specific to Explorers only. The hardtop was removed from the truck and the inside and the outside were repainted in Wimbledon White. Glass is tinted in top, and was replaced. Windshield is new. The grill was painted silver (Sport Option) and the engine compartment was sprayed black. The floors in this bronco were replaced in the front with brand new, correctly stamped steel panels. The interior floors and bed have all been coated with spray on bedliner. The top has a roof rack. The spare tire carrier rack was removed and painted blue and then reinstalled. This is a very exceptional looking truck. New chrome bumpers, front and rear Chrome hubcaps New chrome grill trim chrome headlamp rings chrome taillight surrounds bright side marker lamp bezels chrome sport emblems (factory original) new front turn signal lenses new side marker lenses new brake lenses Interior is new, front seat upholstery has been redone in cloth with vinyl. Front door panels are new, with new door cups and new armrests. Rear seat has been recovered. Note the original Explorer emblem on the dash. Here is a little BRONCO EXPLORER HISTORY FOR YOU: The Bronco Explorer trim package was introduced in 1972, the same year as the Ranger package. The Explorer Broncos didn't have as much chrome appointments as the Sport or Ranger, but instead was more focused on paint and interior colors. Buyers wanting to outfit their early Broncos as Explorers had a choice of two color schemes; Blue Metallic or Copper Metallic. ò Bronco Explorer exteriors started with special paint; either Metallic Blue or Metallic Copper. Enhancing the paint was a stripe kit with dual triple stripes running down the body. They started at the rear of the rear quarter panel and ran up to just behind the front wheel opening on the front fender. The hood had a stripe to match. If you ordered the Metallic Blue the stripe was white. Mettalic Copper Explorers could have either white or tan stripes. On the rear swing away spare tire was a special Bronco Explorer vinyl cover. The wheel covers were chrome. ò Bronco Explorer interiors were color keyed to match the exterior paint. Metallic Blue exterior paint was matched with a blue interior. The seats were vinyl with cloth inserts with a multi-hue stripe pattern.Metallic Copper exterior paint had a tan interior with the same vinyl and cloth pattern. The color scheme continued with the interior door panels. The upper portion was a simulated burled wood pattern while the lower portion was pleated vinyl to match the paint color. The whole door panel was ringed with chrome trim. The dash was also color-keyed and featured an "EXPLORER" badge afixed to the glove box door.
