Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a super nice, very original, low mileage 1974 Toyota Hi-Lux Pickup truck. I have owned this truck for over 2-1/2 years and I am the 4th owner. It was sold new in June of 1974 to a Phoenix, AZ gentleman who purchased it at 'BIG 2 Olds/Toyota' in Mesa, AZ. It was delivered from the dealership equipped with bucket seats, floor console-shift automatic trans., dealer installed AM Radio, Air-Conditioning, rear step bumper and truck bed topper. I have lots of the original paperwork etc. as shown that goes with the truck included but not limited to; Original Big 2 dealership salesman's card, Big 2 license plate frame, owner's manual, AM Radio Guide, Emissions Maintenance Schedule, Vehicle ID Card, Warranty paperwork, postcard from salesman, dealer brochures (2), Original Touch-up paint, Spare Tire & Lock, Jack, extension, handle, tool bag, receipts etc. This truck spent it's next 29 years in the Phoenix area where it was used sparingly and always garaged out of the sun. It registered only 30,000 miles when it was sold in 2003 to it's 2nd owner. The new owner moved to New Jersey and the truck was garage kept there and reportedly used mainly by his wife as a second vehicle. In 2006, the 2nd owner had the topper removed and subsequently sold the topper. Shortly thereafter, it incurred a scrape while parking in the garage. It was taken to a high-end local bodyshop where the rt. door & fender we're refinished. At that time it was touched up where the paint had been scuffed up from the topper on the bed rail surface. All bodywork appears neatly and professionally done with excellent color match. In 2009 and 4,000 additional miles later it was purchased by it's 3rd owner near Greenville, SC. It was garaged as a 3rd vehicle and used very little accordingly. In Dec. of '09 it received new shocks(all 4), new Uniroyal Tiger Paw Radials, complete & thorough brake job, new front exhaust pipe, tune-up and complete lubrication & filter change. Just a little over a year later in Feb. 2010, I bought it and have clocked only 600 miles and have kept it garaged. The truck is an excellent running/driving machine and to see it speaks to the unusually low mileage for such a vehicle. The truck needs nothing done to it except for possibly re-painting the Argent Silver finish on the steel wheels. The original 2-Liter, 100 HP engine starts & runs like new with no leaks, knocks, rattles or smoking (ZERO). The 3-speed Auto trans shifts smoothly, quietly & correctly. Everything on this truck works the way it should; All lighting, turn signals, hazard flashers, horn, guages-idiot lites, heater-defroster, dome lite, windshield wipers & washer, AM Radio(clear & static-free) & A/C blows freezing cold! (still R-12). The engine compartment is clean & un-molested. The interior is extremely well preserved & original & never smoked in as evidenced by like new ash tray & cigar lighter. The white headliner & visors like new with no rips, tears, sagging etc. The dash area & guages are beautiful as are the perfect white vinyl door panels. The white vinyl bucket seats show some slight wear, but the vinyl material is still soft & supple and seats feel new when you sit in them. Even the original factory black rubber floor matting is perfect showing no cuts, scuffs or wear! The 6 ft. bed area has not seen much use either. It appears to have never hauled rock, dirt, sand or anything very heavy. As mentioned earlier, the top surface of the bed rails has been touched-up with a brush where the topper tape wore the paint-tastefully done and looks nice! The doors, hood & tailgate all line up and open/close perfectly! The mostly original Suntan Yellow #518 paint still has excellent appearance. It is not without a few chips & door type dings, but overall I give it a 8.5 out of 10. Please email with any questions or concerns. I'm only selling this truck to make room for a new toy, but it will go to storage if it does not bring close to my investment-Thanks!
