Vehicle Detail

The third project car has been stored in my humble workshop for years. I drove this car for a couple years back in the 80s. Not that I remember all that much about the 80s. But I do remember someone leaving a note on the car when out and about asking to buy the dash board cuz it was cool. Hmmmm. It needed paint badly then and had a couple rust spots that needed replacement. I bought one panel... see in photo. The trim taken off and that was about that. I bought another one...see in my other auction ... but it was too good to use for parts. And then I bought another one that wasnt too good to use for parts. And so they sat. Kids grew up. Kids got braces. Baseball, football, swiming and all that. Car sat. Kids went to collage. Job got busy. And the cars and I got old. Older. In any event, along the way, someone decided to slice the passenger's seat leather while in storage (which before then had been perfect). I started the car routinely over the years until the battery died. Bought another battery. It died and so on. Years went by. We both got older. Kids had kids. Floors seem to be good in this one. Rockers were replaced way back when it was on the road. The fellow I bought it from (original owner) said he had spun on ice very early on and had had to replace the nose section. Kissed a telephone pole at slow speed. I believe this is true. It really needs a good paint job badly. It was a very decent driver until the kids and life came along. Like some many of us... I hate to give up on dreams.... but it has to go. They all have to go. This is a decent car that is pretty much complete. The nose ring is usable but not great. I have not started it recently as I dont want to do so without draining the tank and gas lines etc. These have injectors that are prone to gunk up if the gas is old. Trust me... the gas is old. It has, though, been driver around the block in the last three years. Is it a show car? No. Can it be a show car? Maybe someday. They are not making these any more. But then you knew that already. The 1800 volvo still starts my heart to go pitter patter. When on the roads most people assume they are some Italian job. Which.... they kinda are. The engines are old school volvo and parts readily available. They go until you grow old and tired and give up on buying new batteries. The prices are going up... finally. Not much more to say. It needs to be restored. There is much here to work with. But dont forget.... it is now a forty year old car. Hard as that is to believe.... which makes me.... a lot older than that. As I cant figure out the shipping.... the buyer is responsible for all shipping though I will do my best to help as I can. Door handles, lights, blinkers, and other stuff is in the trunk. I do not think anything is missing. The exterior trim might be the exception. It was very thin stainless and prone to being all dinged up. I think I threw it all away! But maybe not... it just isnt any good unless you are a master at undenting dents. I wont sell overseas... I wont take a check for over the amount. I wont send you a copy of my birth certificate and I wont invest in the funds you have from a general in the Rowandan Freedom Army. Be honest please and be reasonable. A non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hrs of the sale or there is no sale. On Aug-09-12 at 09:27:42 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added pictures of the interior .... showing it remains pretty decent except for the "slices" in the passenger seat. Original dials and gauges all; work including radio... last time I tried it. The back seat is good as are the original carpets. I have also added pictures of the stuff in the trunk that goes with the car. The spare is on the front...I have a fourth virgo rim without a tire to go with the vehicle. I think I have another bumper set.... and the one included in the picture is pretty darn good. More pictures to be added when I find the stuff. On Aug-12-12 at 09:36:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Sunday morning. Dateline, Bloomington Indiana. I have added pictures of the floor on this car in the cabin and trunk. There is a rust hole (or soft spot about 5 inches long) along the very lateral front section of the floor. See photo. The trunk area looks good to me but view the pictures closely. The floor in front of the driver has an old patch in the same area as the passenger side. Thanks for viewing.
