0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false 1998 BMW M3 Convertible, Silver/Dove color combo I hate to do it, but I’m selling my M3 convertible at NO RESERVE. The high bidder will be getting a very nice DRIVER. It is the proverbial 20-footer. Looks terrific all cleaned up and drives tight and fast just like it should. In fact, in June, I spent $2000 to get it tuned up with new plugs, wires, coils, filters, and new battery. The car fires up quick and has that great M-Power rumble. So, mechanically this car is top condition. It’s loaded with power everything, heated seats, AC blows ice cold. All manuals and records included. Okay, so why sell at no reserve? The short answer is that I’m way over budget on my old pickup restoration, and some toys must go to finish that project. My wife is not very happy that our “date night” car is being sacrificed for my old car habit. The body is straight and clean, but it is not perfect. The front lower spoiler has some regular use stone chips (see pic). Paint is clean and shiny. Interior is fair -- see pix. There are a few issues that make this a no reserve sale, however. Here are the things that make the M3 in my estimation that make this a no reserve auction: Needs new rear tires (but might as well do all four, right?) Needs a new antenna (see pic) Hood does not stay up Minor surface scrap along lower driver side rocker panel (see pic) and other minor imperfections ( see pics). Could buff out possibly -- haven't tried. Minor crack in right rear taillight lens (see pic) Lastly, you will see the passenger’s seat has a water stain and DRY spot. Here’s the deal – I bought this car on eBay two years ago and the seller never disclosed a leaky top. So, during a small home renovation project, I left the car outside (it's garage kept otherwise) and it poured rain for two days. It was then I discovered the drain tubes were clogged and the top leaked. I can’t even tell you how pissed off I was! The tubes have been cleared and the car cleaned up, but I did not replace the top because it’s a top-down-all-summer-garage-kept kind of car. I hate dishonest eBay sellers because I’m one of the most honest – check my feedback to verify my reputation. I kept the car because it’s a great driver, fast, and fun! Seriously -- if you looking at this car, you know M3s -- they are a blast to drive! If you're new to M3s, this a great way to enter the M-Power family of BMW. Either way, you’d be getting a really dependable driver. The biggest concern is the top. I dropped the top in May with all systems working perfectly. The car is garage kept and hand washed so I never even put the top up until just last week and it stopped about ¾ of the way up – see the pictures. The top will go back down just fine. I played around with the motors and a few other things, trying to fix the problem to no avail. It might be something very minor or not, hence the no reserve auction. At this point, it just has to sell. Please feel free to make me an offer. Please ask any questions via email, phone or text at 847-707-3009. I will answer honestly and quickly. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Full payment is due with 5 days of the auction’s end. You arrange for shipping and I will work with your shipper. On Aug-09-12 at 19:28:15 PDT, seller added the following information: TOP UPDATE: I was just playing around with top in hopes of solving the problem before the end of the auction. I wish I could say it's fixed, but it's not. The only thing I did was pull the fuse because I noticed the power top switch was blinking. The fuse is fine -- I just pulled it. Top is the still in the condition described above.
