Vehicle Detail
In this auction I am selling a 1972 Maverick that I bought from the second owner, the car is all original except the engine and tranny, still has the original safety sticker on the door and dealer sticker on rear. He took out the straight 6 and put in a 302 V-8. The V-8 that he put in the car was bad, so I bought a 1974 engine 302 from a friend that was in one of his hot rods, but he could not remember what he installed in the engine such as cam compression things of that nature, but runs strong. I put an Edelbrock Performer intake and carburetor on as well. He also replaced the 4 lug drums with 5 lug drums which kept it stock for it’s time. The car has 56,841 miles on it and the body is in good condition, but at one point in time the previous owner had some minor body work done on the right rear quarter panel because the paint does not match very well, he probably had a minor fender bender. The body has minor dings and dents from sitting in a garage or parking lot. There is some rust on the left lower quarter panel were Fords usually rust out behind the wheel. The interior needs the front and back seats recovered and the carpet needs a cleaning but not bad and the dash has a crack in it. The head liner is in good shape. The glass is all original and the doors shut nice and the rubber is in good condition. I tinted the windows and installed a radio cd player. I have replaced the c-4 transmission with a TCI sizzler transmission and a 2000 stall TCI torque converter from Summit Racing. The transmission shifter is a Hurst design so you have to lift it out of it’s gates to shift in reverse and drive. I also replaced the gears in the rear end with a ratio of 3:25 to 1 and it is a 8” rear end. It runs very nice with a firm shift and idles very well. I put headers on from Summit and ran the exhaust out in front of the rear wheels, it has cherry bomb mufflers and sounds nice. I can not weld so the exhaust is clamped together and I had to use flex pipe to get it to tuck up under the car from the header to the pipe and it does have leaks there. I also added a transmission cooler in addition to the one at the bottom of the radiator for better protection in the summer. I also put an electric cooling fan on the radiator a puller type with an adjustable thermostat for the fan to turn on at different temperature. On the new transmission I have approx. 400 miles on it, taking it to car meets and to work every now and again. Also the ignition switch does not work for the power to the engine and I’m not very skilled at electrical problems so I ran a toggle switch that must be flipped to run the engine , but the key ignition runs all other acc. It has Anson wheels and the side walls of the tires has age cracks appearing but the tread is good. The brakes are drum type and I replaced the right side wheel cylinder and not the left so at times it will pull to the right because I believe that the left is old and does not perform as well as the new right cylinder. It is original paint and the stickers from the factory can still be found through out the body for safety at the time of production . It was bought at Golden Ford Motors in 1972. I tried to describe the car to the best of my ability if you have any questions please email.
