Up for bid is a 1984 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser 88 wagon. One owner car with 48k original miles. Despite being a NYC car, she has NO body rust, no bondo, and a beautiful underside as seen in pics. For provenance, this car still has the ORIGINAL rear tires (fronts have been replaced.) 5.0L 307 cubic inch Olds V8 engine and 200R4 4 speed automatic transmission. Normally a bit of a slowpoke with the 307 in a 4000 lb car, this car has only a few options, but one of them is a 3.23 limited slip rear end (GU5 and G80 build codes) for trailer preparation "tow package" equipment, which makes her rather peppy. Despite trailer prep name, these did not come from the factory with hitches, and this car never had one. Delivers consistent 15 in town and 22.5 highway at 70 mph. Regularly maintained - send me your email address and I'll send you the Carfax, which shows good evidence of limited use through emissions inspections, backing up the miles. Pleasant after 6:30 pm weekdays or any time weekends by appointment. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Good battery & good charging system. Starts easy and runs strong. TRANSMISSION: Performs flawlessly. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. Shifts perfectly. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is very straight and solid. NO BODY RUST, and the only notable damage are a small wrinkle aft of the left headlight as seen in pics. Notable lack of normal wear dings - extremely straight everywhere else. Way above average body. Paint: Paint is very nice and shiny and ALL ORIGINAL with no notable issues. Also above average. Wood: Wood applique siding is nice and shiny with a few small nicks, worst of which is pictured on right quarter. Exceptionally nice wood if it was 10 years old, unbelievably nice at 28. Other: Chrome bumpers are spotless - no rust, dings or fading. Lower stainless rocker trim is nice. Glass is all nice with no rock chips. Beautiful undercarriage and frame with no rust, no rust in door jambs or tailgate sill, either, as seen in pics. Hubcaps are in great shape with no curb rash. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is in exceptional condition and serves as a testament to the low mileage. Carpets are nice and clean with no wear, has all original floor mats. Dash has no cracks, door panels are in perfect shape, and vinyl seats have no cracks or splits, and the vinyl is still soft and supple - all clearly showing this car spent most of its time in a garage. Headliner is in nice shape with no tears. Steering wheel is incredibly nice - no cracks and the inlaid fake chrome isn't peeling out. Non-smoker's car - no smoke odors. WAY better than average interior - I'd almost dare to use the "like new" cliche on this one. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, button horn, wipers, etc.) All the power equipment (which isn't much) works properly - power locks, hot heat and cold A/C, am/fm radio, power rear window, and rear defroster all work properly. Dual outside mirrors - driver's is remote and it works right. DRIVEABILITY: Drives beautifully as you'd expect of the low miles - super tight and quiet and strong. Steering is tight, suspension tight, and alignment is good. Brakes work well with good linings all around. Tires are two matched pairs with about 10% tread remaining rear and 50% tread remaining front. Rear tires are original and 28 years old and should be replaced soon, but I left them on as proof of miles more than anything - I've driven on them for a few hundred miles and suspect they'll last another 1000. Solid, new quiet exhaust with no leaks. Limited slip works properly and rear end is quiet. No complaints - drives great - jump in and drive anywhere.
