Vehicle Detail

For sale - a very solid, clean 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS with approximately 42,000 original miles. This was the last year of the “trimmer” body style - in 1998 Ford/Mercury added some unnecessary sheetmetal (in my opinion) and made the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis “look fatter.” I bought this car about two years ago because I wanted to get one of the trimmer body styles before they were all gone. This car came from Texas and is now in Florida so I do not believe it has ever seen harsh winter weather (the car is registered in my military home-of-record in Alaska but it has never been there, it’s a Southern car). Why am I selling? Although I really love this car and planned to keep it for a long, long time I have just accepted orders to go back to the Middle East and don’t want to leave it in the garage until I get back. It has most if not all of the available options for that year including power leather seats (both sides), which are in very good condition with no rips or tears and virtually no wear on the driver’s seat. The other seats look pristine. The carpets are also very, very good. The floor carpet mats have just a little wear on them and still look very good. The body is clean and rust-free with no dents except for one small ding on the right rear fender (see photo). As it is a Southern car I don’t see any traces of rust or cancer. The paint is exceptional for a 15-year old car. I installed a new Interstate battery when I bought it and it has several years remaining on the warranty. The padded dash pad is free of any cracks or tears. The ash tray has never been used - except for some spare change. The trunk is clean and dry and the trunk carpet is virtually perfect. The spare Michelin tire has never been on the ground. The air conditioning blows cold and strong. The tires are servicable but you might want to put them on your “to do list” for replacement in the next year or so, depending on how much you drive it. The oil has just been changed and all fluids checked and replaced or topped off as needed and the tires balanced and rotated. I feel confident that this car is road-ready for you to to fly in and drive home. If you fly into the Orlando airport (code MCO) I will meet you there with the car, providing you have already paid in cash or your check has cleared the bank. If you don't want to fly-and-drive, I will help getting it loaded on any transportation you arrange. I have a clear title in hand ready to be signed over to you. I have tried to describe this car as accurately and honestly as possible but please know that it is sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. You are welcome to come inspect the car prior to the end of the auction. It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is no longer available for sale. Using the Kelly Blue Book (KBB) system of grading a car I consider this car to be between “very good” and “excellent.” The KBB private party value for a car in this condition and with this low mileage in my area ranges between $4,200 for very good and $4,400 for excellent and you can see my price is below that. ** IMPORTANT INFO ** Please bid only if you are ready and able to complete the transaction asap; that means you have the money ready and you do not have to go “look for a car loan” after you win the auction. As I transfer at the end of August I need to wrap up this transaction as soon as possible after the auction is completed, preferably within a couple of weeks. I cannot drag this out for several months. I take my feedback seriously and look forward to a smooth and successful transaction. I will certainly leave positive feedback following a successful transaction and hope you will do the same for me. Please pay a $500 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the rest in cash or cleared check before title or car changes hands. Regarding the deposit, if we do not complete the transaction due to something that I did wrong or failed to do right, I will refund your deposit. However, if we do not complete the transaction due to something that you did wrong or failed to do right, then I will retain half of the deposit to defray the costs of re-listing, missed opportunity to sell to someone else, etc. That's fair, right? If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will answer to the best of my ability. I am also selling my “weekend toy,” a 1966 Buick LeSabre Convertible as well as my 1996 Buick Roadmaster “Collectors Edition” Estate Wagon Limited, also in very good condition, so please check my “other items.” Thanks for looking, bidding and good luck!
