These terms have been revised and adjusted based on what we have learned in nearly a decade of selling vehicles on eBay. These conditions are there to protect both the seller and buyer and to let you know what to expect from this sale. We are not responsible for anything that you chose not to read. Although we were founded in 2011, our dealer principal has approximately 10 years of business experience selling vehicles online – and a lifetime of experience around cars, racecars, trucks and equipment. He has sold vehicles to customers all over the world on eBay. We maintain a full website that tells all about our business and us and invite you to check it out. We want you to learn about our business so you know that we are professionals and not a fly-by-night operation. The title will be released to the winning bidder once full payment is received. Due to financial institutions sometimes holding titles, there could be a slight delay in this process of 24-48 hours before you have a title in hand or overnight shipped to you. Rarely will this take any longer. If the buyer is a Maine resident, we will collect a $33 title fee from that buyer and submit that title application to the state on your behalf. All eBay sales include a State of Maine arbitration fee of $1. That is required by law, but we work it into our eBay prices. We do not charge any documentation or preparation fees. We do collect 5% sales tax from Maine residents only. That is a state law. Out of state buyers are responsible for paying sales tax in their home states and localities as required by law. Advance notice of pick-up is requested. We maintain business hours on each weekday and can usually meet you on evenings and Saturdays to show a car or have you pick it up. By law, we are required to be closed for business on Sundays, but if the titlework is completed in advance and you just need to pick up a car on a Sunday, we might be able to make arrangements to have you do so. We try to work with all of our customers based on their needs. If you have different needs for a vehicle, please let us know as we have other cars and trucks in inventory that we could put up for auction and/or list on eBay by request. We also have other vehicles in the process of being prepped for sale and we can always look to find what you are in the market for. We buy our cars at auctions throughout New England and have access to thousands of vehicles out there, so it never hurts to ask. Please e-mail us any questions. If you are coming in from out of town, we will do our best to pick you up at the Portland, Maine airport (PWM) or the Portland, Maine Amtrak or bus stations. Please just let us know before you book your travel so we can coordinate schedules. We can also recommend local lodging if you are coming in from out of town. There are beaches, lobster pounds, outlet stores, lighthouses and all kinds of tourist attractions within 15 minutes of our dealership, so we recommend making a vacation to the Maine coast part of your car buying experience. We can also work with shippers and even recommend a few shippers who we have heard to have good reputations if you are having a car shipped. A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours and full payment is required within seven days unless prior arrangements are made. If full payment is not received within that timeframe, your deposit will be forfeited to pay towards our eBay fees and costs to list this item. Your eBay bid is a legally binding contract. Please only bid if you have the intention of following through with your commitment to buy. You are responsible for arranging financing, but we will do our best to work with your financial institution to make everything easy. Most of our cars for sale come with 14-day temporary license plates. These are not available though to Massachusetts residents due to Massachusetts laws. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance. If a car is being sold as an unsafe vehicle that needs repair work (i.e. a fixer-upper), we will disclose that in the ad and advise you to have it towed or shipped from our dealership. Those cars should not be driven on the roads until they are repaired and properly inspected in your home state. I was one of the first dealers to sell vehicles on eBay and over the past decade, I’ve heard all kinds of excuses where someone’s wife, children, business partner, dog, burglar or pet goldfish has logged onto their account and “accidently” purchased an item. If it is your account, you will be responsible for your accounts. We are reasonable to work with, but cannot incur the costs from someone committing to a purchase and then changing their mind. A $200 non-performance charge will be assessed to any non-paying bidder. This will be in addition to any forfeited deposit. We will use the court system and/or collection agencies to collect that fee. If the legal system is used, we will also charge all legal fees to the non-paying bidder. This is how we make our living and it’s not a game to us. We reserve the right to waive these fees if you have a legit and documented issue that comes up, we are human beings after all, but we are also in business and need to pay our overhead . If a buyer comes to physically see a vehicle and they do not agree with the condition report that we have made, we will work with them to make things right and if they have a valid concern, we will release them from any commitment to buy. The majority of my buyers through the years have told me after the sale that their vehicle was even better than it was described. We strive for that kind of reaction from our customers. We request that vehicles be picked up within seven days of the sale unless other arrangements are made – but we are understanding of travel arrangements and can usually hold a car or relocate it to a storage facility if you ask us to. This 1991 Volvo 240 Sedan was something that we recently acquired from a customer who bought a newer Volvo Wagon from us. The car has a clean Carfax report. The VIN is YV1AA8245M1431721.
This Volvo currently has 229,081 miles, but it runs great. It appeared to have been professionally undercoated when it was new and is very solid with no rust issues. It is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five speed manual transmission. It is blue with a blue cloth interior.
The previous owner had the car serviced last on April 12, 2012. He had nearly $1,000 in work done including having a new timing belt, new tensioner, new alternator belt, front brake pads and rotors, new trailing arm bushings, new front brake hoses, a new lower steering U-Joint, new trailing arm bushings, a new right tie rod end and a new water pump all professionally installed by a Central Maine repair shop that specializes in rear wheel drive Volvos.
This Volvo is equipped with an aftermarket Bluetooth compatible Stereo CD player, power windows, air conditioning, a driver’s side airbag and heated front seats.
This car starts right up and idles smooth. It does not run hot. It shifts well. The rear brakes are grinding need replacement. The parking brake works. The front end feels tight. The car runs and drives well.
The body is straight and very solid. There is a dent in the trunk lid over the right rear taillight. The paint is fading off the trunk lid. The windshield is cracked and the headlamps are cloudy.
The interior is clean for the year and mileage of the car. There is one fingernail-sized hole in the driver’s seat. The carpeting in the rear shelf under the rear window is faded. The dash is in good shape and is not cracked. The headliner does not sag. There is a broken plastic section of the center console. The left front speaker cover is missing and the air conditioning blows warm.
The tires are sized 185/70R14. The left front has 5/32” of tread remaining, the right front has 8/32”, the left rear has 3/32” and the right rear has 4/32”. The Maine State Inspection requirement is at least 2/32”. Two of the factory plastic wheelcovers are missing.
Mechanically, the car looks good under the hood. The starter appears to have been recently replaced. The Autocraft battery shows that is was made in February, 2011 so it is probably only about one year old.
The State of Maine has a tough state safety inspection program and this vehicle would not pass for a Maine sticker due to several of the items noted previously. Therefore, it is being sold as-is with an “unsafe vehicle” form that will be prepared by a licensed Maine inspection technician who will note any issues found. It does not come with temporary plates and it should not be operated on public roads prior to being fixed. We advise you to have it shipped or trailered home. Most of our cars for sale come with 14-day temporary license plates. These are not available though to Massachusetts residents due to Massachusetts laws. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance. If a car is being sold as an unsafe vehicle that needs repair work (i.e. a fixer-upper), we will disclose that in the ad and advise you to have it towed or shipped from our dealership. Those cars should not be driven on the roads until they are repaired and properly inspected in your home state.
I was one of the first dealers to sell vehicles on eBay and over the past decade, I’ve heard all kinds of excuses where someone’s wife, children, business partner, dog, burglar or pet goldfish has logged onto their account and “accidently” purchased an item. If it is your account, you will be responsible for your accounts. We are reasonable to work with, but cannot incur the costs from someone committing to a purchase and then changing their mind. A $200 non-performance charge will be assessed to any non-paying bidder. This will be in addition to any forfeited deposit. If a buyer comes to physically see a vehicle and they do not agree with the condition report that we have made, we will work with them to make things right and if they have a valid concern, we will release them from any commitment to buy. The majority of my buyers through the years have told me after the sale that their vehicle was even better than it was described. We strive for that kind of reaction from our customers.
We request that vehicles be picked up within seven days of the sale unless other arrangements are made – but we are understanding of travel arrangements and can usually hold a car or relocate it to a storage facility if you ask us to. We are reasonable to work with.

Maine residents are responsible for $33 State of Maine title fee and 5% sales tax to be collected by our dealership and paid directly to the State. Out of State buyers are responsible for all state and local taxes after the purchase. All buyers are responsible for any excise tax and/or registartion fees when they register their vehicle.
