Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this very original one-family owned low mileage Beetle. This VW was kept in the same family since new until I bought it last fall. The mileage of 35,000 was represented to me to be original and judging the rust-free and over-all excellent condition, I believe it could be. It is in perfect running condition and now has had a complete brake job(new brake hoses, new wheel cylinders, new springs & shoes). This Beetle takes you back in time and is a joy to drive. The all factory original black paint was very thin (1 fender showed original primer) and I decided to send to a local high-end paint shop. I decided to leave the original paint except where it was showing primer. The right rear 1/4 panel and 2 fenders we're painted-the rest is original! The car has a very good original patina, and the interior really speaks to the car's low mileage. The red/tan interior is all original and shows virtually no wear! Even the steering wheel looks brand new, but it is the original 52 year old steering wheel it left the factory with! The car was delivered new with no radio and never had one installed. It's still on the 6-volt system and all electrics work. It starts quickly on 1st turn of the key! Of course the motor is the original 1200 it was born with. The battery is new and there is no rust in the battery box area or anywhere for that matter (except for some light floorboard surface rust). The tires are new US Royal 5.60-15" bias ply wide whites and the spare I think is one of the original tires-German made Fulda. The wheels we're repainted as original but the spare is still wearing it's original paint! The trunk area still has it's original liner and is very nice. Also has the factory tool roll (not repro) and all original tools are present as listed in owner's manual! The original owner's manual and service booklet are also present as shown in picture. I would trust this car to drive coast to coast! Even all 4 original keys are included. The rear bumper had a trailer hitch installed which I quickly removed. The holes have dome shaped chrome bolts in them now, but it is evident a hitch was there. I'll include the hitch if buyer wants it. It was not known what previous owner hauled but thought to be a small utility trailer. I would never put a hitch on this type car but I'm sure it was not that unusual to do back in the 60's. I have a buy it now price of $7500 which I believe is very reasonable for a VW of this quality and originality. Lots of Beetles out there but not many of this quality and desirability. I promise you these cars are good investments and will only go up in value! Buy it, drive it & sell it 2 years from now and only make money. Thanks and please contact with any questions. I'm only selling because I need money for another endeavor-Thanks for viewing!
