Vehicle Detail
dfontec7g7a Store This auction is for a 1979 SCOUT II the best model Traveltop and the top has never been removed.. I have the original title and manuals. This is a one owner with original fire orange paint vehicle always driven in WI and has a lot of rust in the rear and bottom from snow and salt. I took a lot of photos ( added some with more shine because I put some linseed oil on to get the original color to show) so you can see the damage only due to salt no fender benders. This was driven until the year 2000 and I purchased from an estate 4 years ago. If you don't want to own a Scout that will need body repairs this Scout is not for you. If you want a low mileage Scout that is all original and complete (most Scouts have a lot more miles and hence new engines etc) with great running gear, nice seats, dash, radio, (no cruise) , AC etc then you want to look at this one.The mileage is original 48,900. It has good oil pressure runs cool the few miles I put on it to drive it home and check it out. All the gauges were working even the gas when it was full so I will fill it again to check it out and make sure it doesn't leak. It has the larger 345 V engine in very good running condition very peppy a little smoky from not being run much. After driving my old Scout 80 and I still have my Scout 800 a 1967 4 cylinder for 30 years which this was going to replace anything would seem fast. I changed the oil to Mobile 1 and put a new muffler, pipes and plugs. It has a standard 4 speed transmission and clutch and shifts ok. It is a good runner on the road fast but has older all terrain tires so are noisy. This has 4 wheel drive and shifts into 2/4H and 2 L. There are some things that will need to be repaired as always with an older car. The brakes are all original and the front calipers are sticking so need to be removed and cleaned. These have a slug type fastener so needs a special tool. I freed up the rear brakes and there is still good lining on all. That said Yes you could drive this home but the brakes and tires (I have the spare) should be fixed first if you have a long trip. The inside has all original matching plaid seats bucket in front and bench in the back in good condition. All the lights work, radio but the AC will need to be checked. I will provide photos. Email me for any questions.
