This 1975 450 SL Mercedes came to us from Ohio in April, 2010, with the idea that we would "renovate" it for our personal use. We didn't take into account that there are few mechanics in New Mexico that have any knowledge of a Mercedes, and the project sort of died there. The car appears to have seen it's share of salty roads and a bit of hard use. As seen in the photos there is some paint-rust bubbles and other signs of related damage. When we got the car it did not run. We placed a new fuel pump on it and got it started fairly easily, and drove it for a few miles. It ran pretty well, especially for the 101,200 miles shown on the odometer. It has been parked inside our shop ever since. We have no idea if we can get it started since we haven't tried for over two years, and we are sure the battery is going to have to be replaced. The plastic covering on most of the wiring is generally pretty brittle, and the dash is cracked, as well as the back window trim. We never tried to raise the soft top, so we have no idea what kind of shape it is in. We are including in the sale various parts we purchased, and never used. These parts include four shock absorbers, wheel bearings, headlight trim pieces (left & right), front disk brake rotors vented, and rear disk brake rotors solid, and a few other misc. items that you could probably use. We have a clear Ohio title, and a Bill of Sale, on the car from the previous seller. There is no reason to doubt that it is OK. Additional photos can be provided, if requested. The remaining balance must be paid in full within 10 days from the end of the auction date, by cash or check, before the car will be released. We can deliver the automobile to within 500 miles of our location in Aztec, New Mexico for a dollar per mile, one way. For any distance greater than 500 miles, one way, we would be glad to quote you a delivery price. Otherwise the pick-up and delivery of the car is the buyer's responsibility.
