Vehicle Detail
Red and ready for summer cruising, this is a vintage MG convertible roadster that can be enjoyed as is, or is a good candidate for a concours restoration. Titled as a 1965, this is an early “pull handle” door MGB that was built in 1964. It has the cool metal dash, original 3-main bearing engine, non-synchro first gear, sun visors, inside door locks and a felt edging around the doors – all only found on first-generation models. It does not have an overdrive transmission. Comes with five wire wheels with early-style knock-offs. Thin white-wall tires have plenty of tread. A very solid sports car that starts, runs, drives and stops well, this MGB has many period features to keep it as original as possible. Comes with a serviceable top with clear plastic windows and tonneau cover, an original jack (jacking points on lower sills are solid), and an owner’s manual. Lights, gauges, wipers, horn, map light all operational. Underneath is very clean as well.Car was owned and enjoyed for many years by an older couple in Middleton, WI, according to service history. I've taken it on 100 mile plus trips with no problems. I put new Champion plugs in it for a better under-hood appearance. When I removed the old ones, each had a nice, gray hue indicating that the twin carbs were set-up well and the engine does not burn oil. Temperature and oil pressure levels once the engine is fully warmed up are where they should be. The only downside of the car is the paint. While there's a lot on the car and it's shiny, the paint job was done with items taped instead of removed, and other evidence of poor preparation. There is also some slight evidence of hail damage on the aluminum hood (bonnet), the rear bumper needs re-chroming and the windshield has some scratches where the wiper blades have hit it. Also, the hood is warped slightly (gaps are off on the sides) but a good body man could take care of this easily.I put new full-length floor mats over good carpeting, replaced the non-period AM/FM cassette radio with a blanking plate, and put some other period items on to freshen it up. Receipts for fuel pump, exhaust, ignition wires, and more. The car has a newer battery and has been converted to one, negative-ground 12 volt battery instead of the dual 6 volt ones.Clean WI title in hand.
