Black 4-door 1964 Mercury Comet 404 for sale. This car is cruise ready. The car was originally tan with the 260 engine but has since been painted black and had a performance 289 installed. The original owners lived in Van Wert, OH where the car was manufactured. I have the original paper work. There is no rust and/or bondo on this car. This car is solid. I still have the original working 260 with original carb. and 3-speed merc-o-matic transmission. These parts are for sale locally but will be included with the car at the selling price if they are still available. I also have a great deal of the original paper work including an original shop manual and many of the receipts from the work that was done. As stated above, the original engine has been replaced with a completely rebuilt higher performance engine. The original 3-speed transmission has been replaced with a new Summit Racing 3-speed transmission. The interior has no rips or tears. The original heater and radio still work well. None of the weatherproofing seals leak. All the felt and rubber seals are still soft and work fine. The paint has some minor chips from usage. All the trim is original and still looks GOOD. This car has always been garage kept and looks, drives, and performs well. I have put approximately 2000 miles on the car since purchasing it. All the interior and dash lights and gauges are in working condition. The turn signals work and cancel properly. The title is clean. The glass is all original with no chips or cracks. All the original trim is in tact and in excellent condition. As stated in the description, I have the original (in running condition) Ford 260 V-8 engine & carb. and original 3-speed Merc-o-matic transmission. These parts are for sale locally, but WILL be included in this auction if they are still available and buyer wants them. If you bid and would like to have these items please let me know and I will remove them for local sales if they are still available. In addition to these parts, I also have a shift kit, a brand new set of blue colored Goodyear cooling system hoses to match the Ford blue engine, and a box that contains miscellaneous spare sensors, spark plug wires, bulbs, etc for the car that I will include in the sale. A few examples of the upgrades that have been made to this car as as follows:-new 3-speed auto transmission from Summit Racing with 2800 rpm stall torque inverter-new 3.55:1 gears installed in the rear end-new shorty headers from Summit Racing with new custom made aluminized exhaust system with true duel pipes from the headers back-completely rebuilt 1966 Ford 289 engine bored 0.030 over with high performance cam, bigger valves with hardened valve seats, roller rocker arms, new lifters, etc...-new Holley Carb. with manual choke-new aluminum edelbrock intake manifold-chrome valve covers-the distributor has been rebuilt to eliminate the points-MSD box.....not yet installed but it will go with the car-new red top battery There is no warranty implied or expressed in this listing.
