Vehicle Detail
I am selling in the words of Top Gear’s James May, “the blokiest bloke’s car there is,” my 1972 Triumph TR6 with 61,347 miles (as of 6-24-12). The car was built in August of 1972. This may be one of the most original TR6s you may see right down to the factory top (see photos), the AM/FM radio that was set up hot from the factory, floor mats and believed to be the original headlights. The car was in the same family for over 25 years, was well cared for and literally used on weekends. I first saw this TR6 at the Route 66 Car Show. The paint is orange/red with a black interior. The car was undercoated early on and I have not seen any rust. In the last five years or so the following things have been replaced: the fuel tank was removed and cleaned, new hoses, fuel pump, radiator cap, thermostat, temperature gauge sending unit, choke cable, water pump, clutch slave cylinder, caliper kit, brake hoses, rear wheel cylinders, fan belt, the alternator was rebuilt in the last 300 miles, various nut /bolt gaskets fasteners and the muffler with the exhaust pipe to the engine. Also, the muffler still has not burned the paint off. The tires have around 500 miles on them and they still have the injection mould nipples on the side. I converted the canister oil filter to the spin on oil filter, but have the original parts if you would like to convert it back. The engine has the rocker arm oil feed installed. This is one of the most important updates you can have because it cures oil feed problems to the rear of the rocker arms. The oil pressure is good and there are no engine leaks. Any black marks you see in the engine bay are caused by the undercoating. The things that don’t work are the horn, but I will include two new ones. The heater fan works intermittently. The pocket on the passage door is loose and there are two cracks on the glove box door. As you can tell from the photographs the car is straight with no body damage. There is a very small ding on the hood but you can’t see it unless you are looking. The chrome is great. Overall this is a great car, not perfect, but for a 40 year un-restored car it is in great shape. A cloth car cover is included. The reason I am selling is because after over 40 years of owning various sports cars, I just don’t drive the thing. Please call 217-494-1112 if you have questions. The reserve is lower than you think so good luck.
