Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a very rare offering of what is to be in the future another Porsche classic, the Porsche 968. This car is Cobalt Blue with Classic Gray Interior. 31 Cobalt Coupes (of the total 2,234 from 1992-1995) were built in 1992-1993 and 10 of them had Classic Grey Interior. Of those 10, only 2 were Tiptronics! This car came LOADED from the Factory with the following Options: Option Code Description F6 Metallic Paint - Cobalt Blue (Only 31 Coupes were Cobalt Blue!) TT Partial Leather - Classic Gray (Only 10 Coupes had Classic Gray with Cobalt Blue!) 139/340 Heated Seats - Left/Right 288 Headlight Washers (Only 214 Coupes had headlight washers!) 383 Sport Seat - Left (Only 154 Coupes had sports seats 387 Sport Seat - Right even less with Heated Sport Seats!) 403 17" Light alloy wheels (Cup I's) (Only 311 Coupes had 17" Cup I's!) Only 1 other car came with similar options, but it had a different radio option and went to Canada! That makes this car a 1 of 1! Also, this car is the 81st 968 Coupe built for North America, meaning it has special unique features including a recessed hood badge and more! This car has 156,000 miles and I have over $7500 in receipts from the previous owner. Things he replaced within the last 15,000 miles include: timing belt/water pump, transmission rubber flexplate, tiptronic computer, brakes, muffler, etc. All receipts are included along with CDs with workshop manuals and parts catalogs. Also included is a Porsche 944 Haynes manual along with a 1987 Porsche 944 Owners Manual. Mechanically, the car drives great, and the tiptronic feature works as it should. It drives straight with correct oil pressure and the ride is surprisingly sublime. Part of the nice ride is the sport seats, which are very comfortable. Electronically, everything works in the car. Windows, Locks, Power Seats, Seat Heaters, Heater, Mirrors, Cruise, Headlights, Fog Lights, Sunroof, etc. all work. A/C blows very cool, and easily kept up on a 90 degree day. Rear Windshield wiper motor works, but the arm does not move. Tires have good tread but are starting to show their age. The interior of the car is in nice shape. I recently had a professional detail shop re-dye the top part of the door panels along with the dash, do to the fact that Classic Gray is notorious for fading over time. I would rate the interior a 8.5+ out of 10. The rear carpet is a bit faded and like 95% of 968's the dash has a few small cracks. I have installed an aftermarket Sony Bluetooth CD Player also, which sounds 10 times better than the stock radio. Paint wise, I would call this car a good 10 foot car. It does have clear coat fading and missing in spots, which is very common for the 20 year old Porsches with original paint. The 968's were notorious of this, especially on the roof, hood and front fenders. The car has also been touched up on the passenger side, along with rock chips in the front. This car is a great looking daily driver, and I still get compliments about the car at least once a week, even with it's original paint. The "8" in 968 is missing on the rear bumper. The wheels are in great shape, 9+ out of 10. The previous owner stated he had them refurbished. This car is easily a $10,000 car once the paint-work gets done, due to it's rarity. Buy the car to drive everyday, or buy it to restore to showroom condition since it is so rare, the choice is yours. If this car does not sell I plan on having it repainted and asking at least $10,000. I would like to add that the car comes with a clear Iowa title, with no liens of any kind.
