Vehicle Detail
1932 Ford Fordor Deluxe with 42,700 miles. This is a very fine example of an original , low mileage 1932 Ford .Here is what I know about it . This is an early car, built in June .Vin # 36xxx .The engine was replaced somewhere along the way with a rebuilt engine. I assume this was a replacement rebuilt long block for a 1932-34 because it is still a 21 stud engine with the early attributes but it has a date stamp on the head of 1951. They used the original 1932 oil pan , exhaust manifolds , distributor , intake manifold/carb , generator/fan . I bought NOS 1932 Water pumps and had them rebuilt by Skip Haney .The engine runs very well , no smoke ,good power , doesn't heat up and starts right up every time. The Detroit Lubricator carburetor is a little fussy at time also . I am not sure I am sold on DL carbs . The engine does leak oil .She just likes marking her spot when she stops. The transmission is still the original 1932 trans with matching numbers to the frame . Original rear end(early) with 4.11 gears . All original frame/suspension and components except exhaust . The brakes are the original mechanical's and there are signs of them being redone at one point. They are very clean at the wheels .They stop well now but could use adjustment to get the pedal up which I will do time permitting. I had the gas tank cleaned, lined and painted professionally and it is very nice. The body is exceptional . Basically no rust, just the typical very light surface rust as seen in the pics , very clean floors , original paint everywhere inside , never hit or damaged, doors close nice ,windows work well . Original top insert in decent shape .The fenders are all in good shape ,very nice beads ,no rust . The hood is nice and the grill shell and insert are perfect ! The car was repainted once along the way and it was a cheap repaint but they only did the exterior .The door jams and under the fenders/hood etc are original paint . The bumpers are decent repos , they were put on before I got it . All the glass was replaced except the rear quarter windows which are badly de-laminated. The rear door glass has rough top edges for some reason ? The interior is all original . The seats are in good shape , the rear carpet is nice , the front carpet is missing , the headliner is all there but it has a couple of big holes that the visors cover and a few small ones throughout , the door panels are all there except the passenger side front door . I do have some original material and what was left of the panel to put something together . Two of the panels are lifting at the edges and show some were and tear .It is missing a few of the correct door/window handles . The visors are there and nice and are the double adjustable style . The amp gauge works perfect ,the speedo works perfect and is accurate , the fuel gauge does not work , the line is broken at the gauge. The dash lights work ,cowl lights work , head/tail light ,high beam/low beams work , and the horn works. The underside of the dash is very clean . I believe when they installed the rebuilt engine they unfortunately drilled into the dash right in front of the driver and installed a Rex-a-Co oil pressure gauge . It works well and there is really good oil pressure . Everything on the car so far unbolts easily and it is easy to work on . I had a set of good used tires put on it and the original rims are very nice inside and out . No pits and clean . The more you dig with the car the better it gets . This is a good one . I am debating whether to clean the underside real well or leave it . When I have cleaned little spots I find black paint under the dirt . I know some people like the dirty look or patina as everyone calls it so I think I will leave it as is for now . Just know that this car will clean up very well if someone was so inclined . The car has a California title in my name and I have an original title from the 40's that goes with the car .I am sure I am forgetting something . This is an old car so don't expect to drive it home unless you live an hour away or can drive 45mph all the way home. I am sure it would make it to New York if you had the time and patience. The price is 25k obo . Ask anything . I have over 100 pictures that I can email .The car presents well in person and gets lots of attention. It's fun ! Thanks , Mike 707-217-8751
