If you are searching for the best of the best, a low mileage first generation Toyota RAV4 in very close to “as-new” condition, your search is over! The 1996 RAV4 offered here is one of the few surviving original examples that hasn't been trashed, rebuilt or rusted out. It is 100% original. The original paint on all body panels shines as new.This all wheel drive RAV4 is fully equipped with the original 2.0L engine, 5-speed manual transmission, A/C that is ice cold and and all of the typical Toyota luxury & convenience items from the late 1990s. The RAV4 was originally sold in Colorado and spent most of of it's life in a Santa Fe, NM garage waiting for it's owners to visit their vacation home. It has the trademarks of a Southwest car; a very clean underbody and no rust or corrosion anywhere. The original purchase documents are available with the Monroney (window) sticker and all keys, books & manuals. VIN tags are present on all body panels and it has never been in an accident. It has been very well maintained and cared for. A complete set of maintenance documents are available. Everything is in perfect working order. For a complete description of the RAV4, check out RAV4World. Ownership History I am the third owner and became aware of this particular car while searching for a low mileage RAV4. As you can see from the Autocheck History report, the first owner of this car took delivery and registered it in Colorado for 8 months and then moved to Santa Fe where it remained until I purchased the car in March of 2007. The second owner in Santa Fe purchased the RAV4 for his daughter while attending college. However, she did not like the manual transmission and burned out the clutch. I purchased the car from the second owner (with a new clutch) in March of 2009 and it has been in AZ ever since. The 6 calculated owners in autocheck is incorrect. Exterior The Purple Storm paint is completely original on all panels and exhibits gloss and depth that rivals some new RAVs I have seen. The body is in exceptional condition with no dents and only a few small scratches. All VIN tags are present and the car has never been in an accident. It has always been well cared for. I have noted the following imperfections.The car does have some rock chips on the hood as a result of being driven on gravel roads in NM. The chips have been filled using "Dr. Colorchip" but much some of the color has removed during the last detail. You won't notice them until you get close to the car. See pics for more. The door dings have been removed with paintless dent removal but there are some touch ups consistent with normal wear & tear. Interior The interior is every bit as nice as the exterior. The original Blue/Gray fabric seats have no rips or tears, no seams/stitching coming undone. The driver's seat has very minor wear on the outside seat cushion bolsters. The rear seats look as if they has never been used. The carpet is free of spots & stains and is clean even under the seats. The dash and all plastic is completely crack-free and the headliner is immaculate. This RAV4 has never been smoked in. I had a medium density, ceramic window-tint applied and it really keeps the car cool on those hot summer days. For safety, airbags are present for both the driver and front passenger. Equipment All equipment and options work correctly including gauges, lights, alarms power windows, power door locks, mirrors, rear defrost, all computer functions and check control system. The original stereo has been replaced with a Pioneer Super Tuner AP/FM/CD player with a removable face-plate. This tuner has iPod/iPhone integration built in and displays your iPod's playlists, artists and songs when connected to a cable in the glovebox. It does NOT, however, have Bluetooth connectivity. The A/C blows cold even on the hottest summer days here in Arizona. The car also has a new AutoPage alarm system with keyless lock/entry. Engine/Transmission/Drive Tain The 2.0L 4-cylinder DOHC engine runs perfectly and happily winds out to redline with no issues. I don’t make a habit of running it this hard, but it is completely capable of doing so. It does not leak any fluids. The timing belt and water pump were changed in June of 2009 at 50K miles. Other notable, recent service items include; front brakes replaced in October 2010, an A/C service and new battery in June 2011 and a major service (all fluids, filters changed and new plugs) just performed in March 2012. It's runs great and is ready to go. The 5-speed manual transmission shifts perfectly and goes into gear smoothly as expected. The AWD low engages/dis-engages normally (with indicator light) and works perfectly. With the rare POSITRACTION option, there are few places this RAV4 can not go - it's a SERIOUS off-road contender. Wheels, Tires, Steering & SuspensionThe wheels are original and have no curb rash or bends - only normal scuffs from tire mounting over the years.The car is currently wearing a relatively new set of BFG All Terrain tires with good tread and a new spare that has never touched the ground. This RAV4 rides so smoothly and confidently at highway speeds it's hard to believe you're driving a 15 year old car. Additional Information Vehicle has a clear Arizona title (in hand) and clean Autocheck with no accident history. The vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is with no warranty. A pre-purchase inspection is welcome, at your expense. I can provide a list of independent Toyota shops in Tucson, as well as the Toyota dealer that performed all of the maintenance in Tucson. Here is a maintenance summary . Buyer is responsible for pickup in Tucson, Arizona. I can deliver to a carrier depot in Tucson after payment has been received in full. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the USA (except HI and AK) and may be able to deliver the car to you, for expenses TBD.
