Vehicle Detail

Condition: This is an early 1931 Station Wagon (woody), VIN A4203352, currently registered and licensed in New Mexico, USA. The woody starts and runs well, but one valve does not seat properly. Current odometer reading is 78823, and the odometer was not changed when the speedometer was rebuilt. Engine: rebuilt and running on July 4, 1997, odometer reading 71051; babbetted mains and big ends, sleeved to standard; adjustable tappets; reground cam shaft; crankshaft is not balanced; engine is as Ford put it together. Brakes: rebuilt, October 1999; new drums turned and new linings arced to fit; front wheel floaters installed; parking brake not rebuilt, not operational. Transmission: rebuilt April 2000, odometer reading 75345; three speed with sealed bearings and leak stop accessory installed with some success. Differential: rebuilt April 2000, odometer reading 75345; high speed ring and pinion installed; u-joint rebuilt; all bearings in differential and torque tube replaced; high speed speedometer gear installed. Steering box: rebuilt March 2001, odometer reading 76139, leakless parts installed; roller bearings installed; new steering wheel, horn button, and light switch; needs adjustment to remove steering wheel play. Front axle: rebuilt March 2001, odometer reading 76139: new kingpins, bushings, and other parts installed; wheels aligned; front spring cleaned and painted with graphite paint; Houdaille shocks with original links on all four corners. Other: engine number DOES NOT match VIN of record on frame; very little original wood left on body, bodies are available; carries two spares in welled fenders; wheels are powder-coated; 6 volt generator rebuilt, has voltage regulator with diode (not a cutout); brand new battery installed; leakless water pump installed; reproduction radiator installed, no leaks; original oval Baker-Raulang body tag included. Fenders and other sheet metal need work to make them smooth and the passenger side cowl will need a patch. The photographs honestly represent the condition of the car, which is 80 years of wear and tear; what you see is what you get. You should inspect the wagon in-person if you have any doubts about buying it. History: My father traded a Model A sport coupe and $20 for this car in late 1956, and drove it around Los Angeles until 1961 when the family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he also drove it around for years. This woody had a four-row commercial radiator and commercial stainless steel shell when he acquired it; while vehicles equipped this way were used in the building of Hoover Dam, I don't know if this car was so employed. I replaced the commercial radiator with a three-row reproduction when the commercial top tank came unsoldered; I have both the four-row radiator and shell in the garage. My father quit driving the station wagon after his eyesight deteriorated, eventually giving it to me in the late-1990s. I did all the work described in the first paragraph, and brought the station wagon with me when we relocated to the Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, area. I am no longer interested in carrying out the complete restoration, and it is time to let this car go to somebody else.Vehicle is for sale locally and I may terminate this eBay auction early if the woody is sold locally. For answers to questions and more information, call Jake at (505) 920-1085 before 8:00 PM MDT.
