Vehicle Detail
I have owned this 67 Beetle for a couple of years now. Prior to my purchase, the car had not been started for 17 years. When I got the car home, I replaced the fuel pump, carburator, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, rotor, points, condensor, and fuel filter. I bypassed the fuel tank, changed the oil and installed a battery and the car fired right up. This Beetle has the origional engine and transmission and I have to say it runs great. Once I got the car running, I took it to a local air cooled VW specialist and had the brakes completely overhauled. This included a new master cylinder, all new rubber lines, 4 new wheel cylinders, all new brake pads and all new springs that control everything. While it was in the shop, I had the fuel tank professionally cleaned and lined and also had the origional fuel line cleaned that runs through the tunnel. I also had 4 new tires mounted and balanced so I could drive the car home from the shop. The VW specialists also set the timing and adjusted the new carburator and adjusted the valves. I also replaced the shifter coupling in the tunnel. It will need a new muffler at some point but it doesnt affect how the car runs or drives. Once the mechanicals were sorted, I purchased 4 new fenders, 1967 specific, and had the car painted. All window seals were replaced during the painting process. The car needs to be color sanded and buffed to be finished but looks ok as is. The door trim has not been completed because I had planned on installing one piece windows. The pans do need work in the rear (under the battery) and the passenger front quarter panel needs to be straightened. It also will need a new latch for the front hood. I do not have the bumpers and have not purchased the exterior trim yet. The interior will need to be finished as I have yet to start that part of the project. The front seats are out of a 1971 standard beetle. Everything works on the car, it just needs to be finished. The car is registered as a Texas antique vehicle through next year. Antiques do not have to be inspected and the insurance is cheaper. I drive it a couple of times per week and have had no issues getting it up to highway speeds on Central Expressway in Dallas and I 635. The car doesnt smoke or burn oil but it does have a small oil leak. I will be happy to answer any questions you have, just let me know. Buyer will be responsible for shipping.
