1953 HILLMAN - CALIFORNIAN HARDTOP COUPE- HOT ROD This automobile is a pristine example of a very rare production vehicle with bodystyling well ahead of its time. This magnificent Californian coupe was engineered into a muscle car- performing hot rod twenty plus years ago. It has recently, over the last 6 years, been professionally refreshed and the car has less than 2600 miles on the rebuild. The drivetrain features a new (non-crate) Chevorlet 350 - 4 bolt main block, .030 over bore, balanced, with a mild cam, teflon coated pistons, and custom headers. (375-400 est. HP). The transmission is a 4 speed Muncie rebuilt with new syncros and bearings The rear end maintains the orginal modifications of a 10" narrowed 57 Pontiac, coupled with 1" traction bars, with drum brakes on all fours. The front end is original independent A-arms with Ford Falcon steering. The interior is a statement of class and distinction with leather-like seats and carpets, new rubber moldings, a nice sound system and a finshed carpeted trunk space. Classic gauges all work , framed by an elegant Grant wood steering wheel. The exterior has been finshied with BMW- Mini-Cooper cream with black. The chrome trim is nicely done, although there is very minor discoloration on the lower part of the grill work. Note: the side window frame chrome and interior door and window levers are somewhat pitted and should be redone. This hot rod- draws a crowd..., its a show stopper. You will not be disappointed.
