Vehicle Detail
I am relisting this vehicle after a "buyer" did not follow up on my acceptance of his "Buy It Now" offer. I have no idea why they did not follow through with the purchase, I simply did not hear from him after I sent a notice that I accepted his offer. My original listing description is shown below, but I have summarized the restoration work here: ExteriorAll windows and all exterior attachments including bumpers, mirrors, lights, lenses, chrome, etc. were removed in preparation for painting. All paint and primer was removed along with all window and door seals. Exterior body was prepped, primed and painted. The top (Cream color) received six coats and the bottom (Red color) received five. New window and door seals were installed as well as seals arround the engine compartment. The windows were in excellent shape and did not need replacing with new. All exterior attachments except the door handles and bumpers were replaced with new. The bumpers were also stripped of old paint and primer and freshly primed and painted. New tires on all wheels including the spare. Interior:All seats, cushions, pads, headliner and rugs were removed in preperation for interior nenovation. All seats were rebuilt, not just recovered, with new cushioning and fabric. New headliner, carpeting, seats, and rear mat installed. Mechanical:Engine and Transmission removed and inspected. The engine appears to be in excellent condition and has a factory reman tag. The mechanic gave the engine a tune up and it runs very strong and smooth. The transmission and clutch required some relatively minor work and now shifts smoothly through all gears. Other relatively minor items were found and corrected including motor mounts, tie rods, brakes, and front end alignment. The total cost of restoration mounted to nearly $14,000. Please note that I have relisted this vehicle under the auction category, not the "Buy It Now" category. MY ORIGINAL POSTING IS SHOWN BELOW: My wife and I are selling our professionally restored (in2011) 1976 Volkswagen Westfalia Tin Top Camper. We started with a clean, rust free, garage kept vehicle which made for a beautiful restoration. The Bus was originally sold and spent its first 34 years in Southern California, so it has a virtually rust free body. We purchased the Bus from the second owner and still have the original owner’s manual and original key, which fits all doors. Everything on this Bus works; it is turn-key and ready to be driven anywhere. The restoration was done by people with over 30 years experience in Volkswagen restoration, and included mechanical, interior and exterior renovations. The new paint colors are original VW Bus colors. We have over $30,000 invested in this Bus and realize we will lose money on the sale. Our loss will be your gain. We have receipts for all restoration work and will be glad to provide additional information to serious buyers. Thanks for looking.
