Vehicle Detail
This is an all original "barn find", first year, Emerald Green Triumph TR6. The TR-6's are considered the last true British sportscar, and the early, pre-rubber bumper cars are the most desirable of the bunch. With only 66500 documented miles, this example has always been stored inside, and appears rust free throughout, with the exception of a few tiny surface bubbles on the body, not even through the paint (see pics). The engine was completely rebuilt several years ago, and has less that 2000 miles on the complete rebuild. New transmission and clutch were installed as well. In the last couple years, the carbs were rebuilt and tuned, a completely new rear end was put in, and a new drive shaft installed. I have receipts for the recent work. I also have the original owner's Indiana state registrations for pretty much every year up to the present. There's even an old Indiana inspection sticker still on the front window! The car had one repaint back in the late '70s, otherwise it is thought to be completely original. To be a show piece, the next owner would probably want to have it properly painted. There is, however, a trend toward original "barn find" looking cars with "patina" that have been mechanically rebuilt, in the collector car circuits these days (looks old, runs new), so this one is ready to go if that's your thing. Or put a nice new paint job on it, and maybe some new trim, chrome, etc, and this car will really stand up. There are various little interior & exterior trim pieces (drivers door panel, original wood dash is crazed & cracked, etc) that could stand to be replaced. ALL gauges and accessories work properly (check out that stock radio!) and the factory production badge is still intact in the door jamb. The original Talbot mirror is still in place as well. As they say, they are only original once, and this is a refreshing time capsule compared to the many modified and molested cars available these days. An identical car with a light restoration just realized $22,000 at Mecum Collector Car Auction in Indianapolis this week. This car could be there without a lot of time or money. This TR-6 is far from perfect, but is a great example of a true classic that can be thoroughly enjoyed while it is gradually enhanced. Over all, this is not a concourse show car, but a very, very nice driver quality TR-6. I like this example (& would keep it if I could!) because it is nice and reliable enough to enjoy regularly and with pride, but not so nice that you're afraid to take it out and use as intended. Early cars are rapidly appreciating, and will soon be out of reach for the casual enthusiast. Rarely do you find a realistically priced one with these low, documented, original miles. I encourage all potential buyers to come inspect the car in person prior to buying or bidding. Feel free to call me with any questions or for more information. Car condition is subjective. I have owned over 100 collector cars, and am picky about my vehicles, but potential owners should decide for themselves if this car is for them. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. I can help with very reasonable shipping arrangements, but transportation is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer. Zero or negative feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Please only bid or offer if you are serious. Finally, feel free to email or call 574-361-5315 with any questions, more details, or if you'd like to make an offer. Good luck!On May-26-12 at 12:25:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to several inquiries, I have taken some pics of the undercarriage and suspension of the car. It is completely solid, with only some typical light surface peeling in a few spots. Since I have already utilized the 24 pics as allowed by ebay, I can't post these to the listing, but any interested parties are welcome to send me a message through ebay, and include the email address that I can send the pics to, and I will be happy to forward them on to you. Thanks again for the interest!
