1972 Mercedes Benz 280SE 4.5 Litre V8 Featured in Automobile Magazine, as a “Collectable Classic” This car was praised for being the last of the big V-8 Autobahn cruisers. Imported from Germany at a time when German engineering was unparalleled, and style came second to quality. I was so interested in this car after reading the article, that I began a search for one of my own. I purchased this car through EBAY in 2008. Of course I questioned the mileage, but the seller told me that he got the car from the estate of his employer who lived in Manhattan, and kept the car in a parking garage. The original owner really did not have much occasion to drive it. After receiving the car, I found several old receipts tucked here, and there that seemed to back up his story, so that is what I’m going with. The car is in good condition. Not a show car, but a good 15 footer. It is very dependable. It will take you wherever you want to go. There are a few small rust spots by the side of the headlights, but other than that the body is pretty straight. The driver’s window needs a new regulator. When you hit a bump, the window drops down an inch or two. The dash board has a couple cracks. There are no rips, or tears in the interior, and the headliner is perfect.
