Vehicle Detail
Mad Max Interceptor Here's your chance to own a beautiful replica of the black on black police car Mel Gibson drove in the movie "Mad Max". This replica started with a '75 Australian Ford Falcon XB coupe imported to Seattle, then up to western Canada. After collecting the fiberglass body kit, blower components, and all the accessories, this car was professionally restored and painted to bring it to showroom condition. The engine was an Aussie 302 Cleveland but was completely rebuilt, stroked to 351 cu. ins., and balanced It has 10:1 forged pistons, 351C 2 bbl heads, a fairly mild cam, noisy type gear drive to simulate blower whine, a high volume oil pump, aluminum intake with new Edelbrock 650 Thunder Series AVS carb. Engine was bored 0.030" over and rebuilt professionally. Note that the correct Scott injector scoop and vintage Weiand blower drive are non-functional as in the movie. Tranny is a top-loader Ford four speed and car has a Ford 9" rear axle with 2.75:1 locking diff. The new dual exhaust system includes headers, new pipes and functional "zoomies". The body work was done by "The Rod Factory" in Edmonton, Canada in 2007 with the installation of the fiberglass parts and movie-correct black-on-black paint scheme. Engine bay was painted as was trunk area, inside doors, and fender wells undercoated. New carpeting and correct "bone" colored headliner installed. Previous owner in Australia had re-done the seats and door skins in the black GT trim as well as changing the dash to GT. They had also installed many new suspension components though unfortunately I didn't get the receipts for them. I do have a nearly complete catalog of receipts and photo documentation of whole project. There isn't enough space here to list all of the work done on this car but please feel free to contact me for much more info. The car was completed in about 2008 and has only been driven occasionally with about 150 miles on the restoration. There are a few very small, short hairline cracks in the paint and one small chip along the hood side. Car was inspected prior to registration and is completely street-legal. Also, it was appraised May, 2010 at $109,000. Please do not ask about the reserve price and I am not interested in any sort of trade at this time. I have video of the car and a web site if you'd like to see more. Let me know.
