Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a very nice '66 Wildcat GS. This car belongs to a friend of mine who, because of the economy, is forced to work out of state. He is not able to access a computer most days since he works 12 hour shifts, so I agreed to list it for him. He bought this car several years ago from an older man in North Carolina. He is the third owner of the car and it has not been driven much in the last few years. This is a rare car especially with such low mileage. This car came equipped with a 401(nailhead) engine with dual 4 barrel carburetors. The previous owner removed the dual quads and replaced it with a 4 barrel intake and carburetor. To the best of my knowledge that is the only thing that is not original on this motor. I went to my friend's house, uncovered the car and we drove it to a nearby industrial park to take pictures. The car starts right up and sounds good, it's not loud, there is no valve clatter or smoke. It is very responsive for such a heavy car, but of course this was the age of muscle cars. I tried to take pictures from every angle so that you could see that the car is in really great shape. My friend had it painted a couple of years ago and it looks very good. The convertible (power) top works fine and was replaced less than a year ago. There is a convertible top boot that I did not install but I laid it on top of the convertible top so that you can see that it has one. The seats have no rips or tears and look to be original to me. The dash is incredibly clean and has all the badges and the steering wheel is in good shape with the Wildcat emblem in the center. The title also states it is a Wildcat GS. I could not find any signs of abuse on the car. The chrome is not pitted or damaged and probably the thing that convinced me that this is an original car is that I crawled under the car as best I could and could not see any rust on the floor pans or frame. I tried to take a couple of shots, however I was in a parking lot and they might not be real clear. I turned on the AC and the compressor engaged just like it should however it wasn't blowing cold, but it was 90 degrees when I was taking the pictures so the AC is operational but it might need some freon. All the windows are operational, no cracks or fading. I pulled back the mat in the trunk and took a picture so that you can see that the trunk pan is solid. It has Buick rally wheels, 215x70Rx15 Michelin tires on it which are in good shape. The rear brakes and all the wheel cylinders were replaced several months ago. There is a 6" thick shop service manual that comes with the vehicle, which if you could find one, would probably be worth several hundred dollars. As you can see from the pictures, there are some aftermarket fender skirts that we put on the car so that you could see how they look. I was very impressed with this car, it looks and runs very good, if you drive this car down the street you will get a lot of people that will give you the thumbs up because it is a good example of a well maintained classic. Other than the linkage being a little stiff when you shift from park to reverse, the car runs fine. I hope the description and the pictures will illustrate the value of this car. The owner does not really want to sell it, but he sees no sense in it just sitting in the garage for another couple of years. He has placed a reasonable reserve on the car and is open to any reasonable offer. If you have specific questions you are welcome to email me, but please understand it can take up to a couple of days before he can answer me back. I will be as responsive as I can. Look at the pictures carefully but you will not have any major surprises on this car. I have sold on ebay a long time so I have to include that there is no warranty implied or stated and it is sold "as is". I have done my best to describe the vehicle completely. Thanks for looking and have a great day. On May-10-12 at 18:08:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had many questions about the block code and the numbers on the firewall plates. These are the numbers off the firewall plate: the first line under General Motors is 06B the next line right below it is ST 66 46467 BA00136 (body) the next line down is TR 423-2 VV (paint) The block code on top of the block is MT 507 6D124427 The number on the head is B1374603 J I have done my best to describe this vehicle as best I can. I AM NOT a Buick enthusiast. I have never spent my days reading technical manuels to figure out trim code on 46 year old vehicles. It is obvious to me by the immense number of emails I have received that this is important information for some people. However, I am not one of those people and I have tried to answer each email with all the information that I can garner from the owener as well as what I could visually inspect on the vehicle. I can not guarantee that this is a Buick GS, that has been a question that I have been asked consistently. I can tell you that there are GS badges on the inside and outside of the car. I can tell you that the title is branded with GS. Outside of that I don't know. I believe that since the block's code last five digits match the VIN that this is a numbers matching car. Apart from that I can not tell you. If you are hesitant in any way about anything on this car please do not bid. If you feel as if anything was not made clear please send me an email and I will gladly cancel your bid. I am trying to help the owner and I have done my very best to adequately describe the condition of this vehicle. When I got someone to open the garage, since the owner is still out of town, so that I could get the numbers off the block, I looked at the car carefully. I pulled it out of the garage and the only two things that I feel like I neglected to mention were that the antenna mast for the radio has been broken off. The radio works but I believe when they put the cover on the car the mast of the radio was broken. As I mentioned in the ad when you shift the car into reverse or drive it feels a little stiff. The transmission engages fine, the linkage feels a little stiff, however today when I was shifting it from reverse to drive I noticed that the red arrow or shift indicator on the dash indicating if the car is in park, drive or reverse, was not moving. I did not notice it the other day. This is not a major fix but with the amount of emails that I have had I want to try to disclose everything I could find. What I can tell you is that the car starts right up, the car sounds good, the car runs good and the car looks good. The owner has driven this car all over the south, NC, SC, GA, and AL and not had any problems. I have been really confused at the level of intense details and description that some have insisted I provide. Once again, the car is 46 years old, it is not eat up with rust, it is straight and is just a really nice car. But if you are hesitant FOR ANY REASON, DON'T BID!!!!! The owner and I want to represent the car honestly and accurately and no one is trying to be deceptive. If for any reason you don't think you will be completely satisfied with this vehicle Don't Bid!! Thank you for all the helpful information many of you have shared with me. I have learned a lot about Buick Wildcats!
