1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible This is a prime opportunity to purchase an original code 11 Cameo White 1972 Oldsmobile Convertible with a Black interior. This car has the potential to create a Hurst Olds Pace Car Convertible. I showed a picture of the data plate to prove this car is a true 11 code. I don't know how many 1972 Cutlass and 442 convertibles were made in factory Cameo White, but I don't think there are many left. I do know Oldsmobile only allowed 130 Hurst Olds Convertible Pace Cars to be created for the Indianapolis 500. This car also has the capacity to be transformed into a Cameo white 442 with black stripes. This Oldsmobile needs a full restoration, so that choice will be left up to the winning bidder of this Rare Classic Muscle Car Convertible. This Cutlass Supreme has one of the vented hoods that usually came on the 442 model, but the various restoration companies do sell an aftermarket fiberglass hood for around $550. The grilles and the tail lights have already been blacked out like a Hurst Olds. Here is a little information to help make your decision. According to the Olds Faqs website 1971 was the last year that the 442 came as a seperate model, and there is no such thing as a fake 442. The 442 was an option, so whether it was ordered as a 442, or from a local dealer, or a private owner installed all the 442 options they are all considered Cutlass Supreme or Cutlass S bodies. This is why all 442 convertibles from 1972 came with Cutlass Supreme on the glove box door. I have too many projects right now to devote the proper time needed to bring this Oldsmobile back to its former glory. This is a very rare find! I've only owned this car for a couple months, so I will describe all the information I know to be correct. The previous owner had this car in storage for the past 20 years. He told me he accumulated all the 442 parts for it, including a genuine GM ram-air hood. Someone broke into his storage facility and stole everything he had to make this car a real 442, so he lost interest. He stated that the numbers matching Rocket 350 engine is original to the car. I checked the numbers on the block myself, and they do match the vin number. The carburator is a 4 barrel quadrajet. This convertible was ordered from the factory with air conditioning, but is currently not hooked up. The engine detailing has been started and the car does run, but the gas tank has been disconnected. It currently runs off of a small gas can under the hood until the gas tank in the rear is hooked up. A brake line needs to be replaced to make the brakes fully functional. The brake light does not come on, although the brakes will stop the car. The floors and trunk will need repair or replacement. Sheet metal patchwork has been done in the needed areas, but it was an amateur job at best. The interior will need to be redone, but looks relatively presentable as it is. There are newer seat covers on the bucket seats. The passenger head rest has some black duct tape on the inside corner as shown in one of the pictures. The front and rear floor mats are new on the original carpet. There is a Marantz AM/FM cassette player, but it is not hooked up. This dash was never cut up around where the stereo is mounted like the majority of these cars were in the past. An original radio can easily be installed, and the dash will still look like it came from the factory. All the glass is in pretty nice shape, and the windshield does not have any cracks. The top will need to be replaced, but all the mechanics go up and down. I know from past experience that in today's economy a new top can be purchased and installed for around $600, so make sure to factor that cost in when you place your bid. A convertible top boot, a rear glass window, and a pair of sport mirrors will be included with the sale of this auction. The wheels are Super Stock II's painted Code 53 Saturn Gold with all four centers, and beauty trim rings. The tires are Widetrack S/R Radial's with good tread on them. There is a full size spare in the trunk with a new trunk mat, plus the jack and crow bar that I received with the car. The Nada Classic Cars Price Guide has the 1972 Cutlass 442 Convertible listed for $41,600 in high condition, $25,200 in average condition, and $14,650 in LOW CONDITION. This car has great investment potential. As a Hurst Olds these cars increase substantially. This car can be made into whatever you would like it to be. What you see is what you get!
